Sunday night when I came home from work I went to take some food into the room where Tadpole and Gidget are. I flip on the light and my eyes immediately go to a movement on the top of the curtains. A glider running along the top of them. A quick look at the cages reveals all doors closed, so who is it? Quick close door, yell to mother that we have one loose. I know it isn't Tadpole this glider has a full tail. So I check Gidgets cage, no Gidget I open the door and in the glider goes right to the water and food. Calm down, calm down, breath, breath, think, think. mom swears that she didn't get past her when she put in the egg and veggies. Then I remembered. We had trimmed everyones toenails earlier after cleaning cages. Gidget hates that and especially if she is in her pouch (which she was) I had later taken out her climb and sail ferret boat and left it out to be washed. She must have gone into the boat after her nails were trimmed (got her tail up about being disturbed in her bed "so I'm not going to sleep in it") She wasn't in the boat a little while later when it was washed so just after I removed it and left the room she must have snuck off in the room for a campout nap. I work 2nd shift so I figure she must have just gotten up when I got home, thank goodness she didn't go roaming around. From now on when I take anything out of the cage even during the day I will check to make sure nobody is in it. Gidget is fine but a little reluctant to leave her cage, she must be afraid she will get locked out again. Some time and patience should take care of that. I'm just gratefull she is ok.

Good news Gidget came out to play (supervised this time) at first she wouldn't come out much beyond the cage, so after she went in we let Tadpole out to play. After Taddie went in we had very little difficulty in convincing Gidge to come out. Sometimes jealousy can be a good thing. [ 08-30-2002, 12:44 AM: Message edited by: Ark Mom ]
