Does it hurt when they bite? And how loud are they when the crab and/or yip/bark? Thanks!

It depends on if it's a nibble or an actual bite. Some can hurt, and I wouldn't say they are extreamly loud when they bark. However a crab can be rather loud.

have you looked at their teeth? haha. a nibble or finger mistaken for food won't be too painful. frightened, on the other hand - might draw a little blood.
when peter parker [my sugar glider] barks and yips, i can hear it from the bedroom, he's in the living room and i've got two fans going. haha. it's cute. the crabbing is almost obnoxious. very loud. in your face.
but i love him anyway. =)

In my experience, any bite from any animal is unpleasant. Gliders are no exception. However, a glider on it's worst day probably won't do much in the way of damage. Sure, it hurts, but no more than a jab with a toothpick. :-)

When I first got mine I was a little impatient, I wanted to hold them but they were not ready yet the female bit me hard enough to draw blood twice. You cant rush them they come around in their own sweet time, now they dont bit at all. It really helped a lot hanging out with them in the bathroom (make sure you put all the junk away, close toilet, plug any holes and outlets and put in a red bulb), they crawl all over you including your hands. When your done turn the normal light on (If possible) put their pouch in front of them and they usually go right in.

My guys never bit me so I don't know about that, but I would think of it as a hamster bite....and that doesn't hurt it's just shocking really. As, for the noise...well I've had a gerble in my room and she drove me nuts with chewing. These guys have never woken me up. And, they're barking isn't loud at all, but it's so cute!

We had the pleasure of having Joy & Noel join our family 2 weeks ago. They have not bitten me out of fear, but they do taste every once in a while. Noel loves to chew on my watch band and she sometimes gets skin with it, but no blood.

I do however have little nail marks all over my arms from tent time. They both love to leap from the door of the tent to anything they can hold onto. That has been worse than any of the nibbles, but tons of fun.

after you properly bond em, they will hardly ever bite at all for any reason, but here again it all depends on the glider. it's not bad regardless. i dont know what ya'll are talkin about; that bark can be heard over long distances; the crab just sounds worse!!!!

I have been bit so hard that it drew blood and bruised (very emotional time fo rmy little guy, his friend had just died) so I can definitally vouch for the bites being at the very least unpleasant.

The male has already stopped biting since I last posted, the female will still chomp on any wrinkle or fingertip she can get ahold of, at least now I get a few warning chomps. Whats really fun is when she chomps on my earlobe LOL

It is just so strange to me how they are all so individual…

Mango our first took no time to bond, has never bitten, and is a little lover boy
The Twins came together…
Sage (I think) is past the major biting and has started to settle in nicely
Surge (and he deserves his name) still will reach out and really bit hard to draw blood…

Just last night I was offering worms to Mango and Sage, they love them, but Surge has decided that he does not like worms right now (his previous mom said he used to love them) I have found that he likes crickets, so I keep them special just for him, well I was trying to give him a cricket and he past that up only to sink those fans into my thumb, blood and all. But I know he will come around too.
