I am confused with the bonding process when you have two new Gliders. I just got them yesterday afternoon. I understand the bding process to a certain extent, but it seems most "instructions" are for a single Glider.

Do I put both of them in the pouch and/or hang out and play them both at once? Or is it better to do them one at a time, spending like 15-20 minutes each then alternating them like that?

Thanks again for the help.

i have 3 that came at same time, at 10 weeks old. 2 nutured males, and 1 female. suncoast/lisa instructed me to carry each in a individual bonding pouch during the bonding process, not to carry them all together in one pouch. as for playing and activity, that is shared together with my bunch. with instructions to pay special attentions to one at a time during the active play time, and alternate that with feather teasers, or toys, or talking or teaching them to be held in hand. mine sleep together in sleeping pouch, and i can now go into that, and pick up any one glider, or all three with no problems now, giggle.
also, all mine bonded at different rates and had different reactions about various things. giggle. so they are teaching me how they want to be treated individually now too, giggle.
hope this helps? have fun, giggle. i know i did when i got my crew.giggle.

I bonded to my 2 boys at once... both in the bonding pouch at the same time, and play time together... so it's really up to you, some people prefer to do as kindle did and try and bond one at a time, I did both at once and had no problem

like Kindle said, they will bond at different rates, so if one bonds more quickly than the other, it might help if the less bonded one watches the more bonded one... see that you're a good giant...

good luck, we'd love to see picks of the new children!

got a question on the multiple bonding thing? can gliders get jealous of other gliders in this process. drago, which is slowest to bond, seems to be very fussy at the other gliders when i give attentions to other two. no fighting, but independent and not wanting to play with them, is this a jealousy thing? he does wonderful with me, and no problem, except for occasional little nips (my other two don't bite or nip at all). so was wondering if he was wanting something more then the others or what? giggle.

Tonight I can finally get them out so I'll get some for sure. It's pretty funny right now, one of them came out of the pouch and climbed into the apple food dish thing and is sleeping. As soon as I started typing he made some clicking noises. Maybe he thinks the keyboard is another glider.

I can't wait until tonight when I actually get to play with them. I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks for all the help!

Looks like tonight I won't be getting them out. Everytime I stick my hand in there they crab at me. I put stuff on my finger they just sniff it and walk off.

Now they are both hiding behind a bush in the back corner where I can't reach.

Oh well, I guess this does take a while.

yes it does - what I found helpful was simply leaving my hand/arm in the cage... eventually they came over and began to sniff me and walk on me, and after many days of that, they stopped crabbing at me...

Erok that was very good that you did that. Like Faery said, keeping your hand or arm in for a while is a good idea. But most new owners end up forcing their little ones out to play and don't give them space as you did. That will really help the process along. Would you trust some big thing grabbing at you and pulling you out of the only thing that remotely feels like home? I don't think so. Good job! You are going to be a good glider parent

I did this with two pouches one for each...they both love me and each other...from scents, sounds, and a lot of tent time...you can manage both gliders...

Thanks.

That is what I was worried about, pushing them into "hanging out" so I try to give them space.

The male now comes to my hand even if I have no food. But once he see's there is nothing there he walks off.

Today marks a week of having them. The girl doesn't really crab at me anymore although she gets really nervous when I come by the cage.

I was reading in another post someone just let the gliders out and had them run around. When should I try doing that?

And...one more. How do you get the glider into the bonding pouch? I don't really want to trick him into it and zip him in there. I know I wouldn't want someone doing that to me.

x2.

I did have a problem with Harry and Potter getting jelous over me after they were bonded and I had had them almost two years. Harry started biting me and drawing blood. A moderater sugested a spray called Elimina and it worked. I still use it daily.

Speaking as one of those people who has "multiple gliders" & space to let them run, let me enlighten you on a few facts to put things in their proper places:

I have 2 separate families: a male & female & their 3 babies in 1 cage, then a male & female & their 1 remaining baby in the other. I only WISH that I could let them all out at once to play around as a group, etc etc. But that's definitely NOT how it works---One family gets to come out of their cage, play around in the room with me for an hour, then they have to go back in so the other family can come out & play for an hour. And yes, jealousy ran rampant for quite awhile between who got to come out first! I tried alternating back & forth between cages, but that didn't work well at all! I finally figured out that consistency is the key here! "The Fantasy Family" comes out of their cage first (I usually hear the exercise wheel start up around 8pm) and the "M&M Family" gets a few crickets fed thru the cage while they're waiting their turn. No matter how hard I try, though, the adult males love to torment each other by dancing on the other one's cage! At least they know what I mean when I say "ENOUGH, COME!"

Yes they are very territorial. If they do live together though that is fine, just make sure that there is nothing that they could get into or get hurt on. And preferably somewhere they can't get away from you, and are forced to be around you. That is why many people use a tent. I do not, but it is a good idea. I use the bathroom, the tub specifically, when bonding to a new glider. Actually, I have a little girl coming today SO EXCITED! I Can't Wait!!! LOL, sorry for that... been wanting a girl for ages, lol. But if you do use a bathroom, make sure everything is out of reach and the toilets and drains are all closed off. Some people may not think it ideal, but if you take all the precautions it is very handy. Once they get used to being with you there, then they will be fine to go in a bigger area like a room with you. Good luck on the little, good to see you are having progress!
