Well I pulled her today and I kept supplementing her and her brother. Everything has been going ok. The boy was still feeding off of mom as well so I kept him with the mom and dad. Well tonight when I was making their dinner I kept hearing noise like mom and dad were fighting. Well when I went to put their food in I found the boy at the top of the cage crying and mom was in the wheel and dad was playing on the vine. Neither were doing anything for this little angel who was hanging on for dear life. I keep their sleeping pouch at the bottom of the cage so he had to have climbed a whole heck of a lot to get where he was. I don't know what to do about him. Do I pull him also? I just don't understand. I am about to just curl up in a ball and cry. cry

Meg, do you have Suz' number? It sounds like they're not being very good parents...and I'm just not the baby expert. If they're not watching him at all, and leaving them to get cold/come looking for them, I'm not sure whether to tell you to pull them or not, honestly. Suz would be the one to call...I have her # if you need it (and she doesn't mind for baby emergencies, honest) My instinct says pull him, too, but I'd run that by Suz first.

If he was out of the pouch he is looking for food and hungry bless him, I would deff pull this one too and not take the risk. He will be getting cold as he cant regulate his own temperature at the moment either so if I was you Id speak to Suz 1st as shes the expert but Im sure she will say pull him and hand raise.
Good luck.

Jen & Tillie are both right - at this point, I'd probably go ahead and pull him, too. His parents should have been responding to his cries. If you don't want to pull him yet and find him outside of the nesting pouch again, then you can try putting him on the father's back. The father should carry him back to the nesting pouch and take care of him. If he doesn't, then you will definitely need to pull him.

Well I pulled both joey's now. Last night went ok other then the incubator I made does not seem to stay warm enough. I went to several stores to get a heating pad and all the ones I have found turn off after 2 hours which is fine since I am feeding them about every hour to 2 hours but it seems like just as it gets warm the thing shuts off. Other then that it is going ok. Kind of seems silly but I am giving mom and dad supervised visits and they seem to do very well other then a couple of fits mom has.
thanks Thank you to everyone who has been helping me. I am now just trying to figure out how I can hand raise these babies. I don't know how I will be able to wake up every 1-2 hours during the week to feed these little angels and still function at work and night school. Anyone have any suggestions? These poor babies. I just want to cry... cry

Is there anyone who can help you with the night feedings? Even alternating feedings with you would be a huge help. If I was closer, I'd definitely help you out, but Utah is way far from me frown
As for the incubator, you may want to see if you can find one of the Reptile heating pads that sticks onto the bottom of the tank - they work very well for making incubators. A bit pricey, but worth it in the long run, and you can get the smallest size and still have it be effective.

Sadly there isn't anyone that would help me with them. My husband is a sweetheart but he won't help me with them which I can understand as I don't like helping him a ton with his fish tank crazy I will just have to stick it out and drink lots of coffee grin I still am nervous about them obviously.
Thanks to everyone for being here for me and for all the support. I really appreciate it. I do have several questions still and I know I will for a while. I feel like the response I was given by the members on this board has made me feel 100% better and that I can ask anything even questions I might think sound dumb and receive response. Thank you! grin

megr,

Congrats on the new babies!!! I also just had 1 joey come out of pouch and one soon to follow. It is exciting and scary all at the same time. I will keep your little one in my thoughts and hope all goes well in hand raising them!

Well everything has been going ok since I pulled the joey's. They both are starting to open their eyes and have started to go potty by themselves grin They are eating pretty good and I have started weighing them to make sure they are gaining weight. They are really stinky though and I am not sure how to wash them other then with wipes which tend to leave them a little sticky. Anyone know how I can get these babies clean and smelling better?

you can let them wiggle through a warm wet washcloth and then through a dry washcloth to help dry them some, and be sure to keep them warm wink

what type of wipes are you using? The cottenelle wipes that you get by the toilet paper don't seem to leave that sticky residue like other wipes do..

Since a new thread has been started about this (see Stinky Joey Question?), I'm going to lock this thread now to avoid confusion about where to answer...
