I will be getting a new glider at the end of April - she will be 8 weeks OOP. My Holly is gone (see post in real stories) and I am getting this new one for Chloe. Chloe is 1 year old. Will the age difference be a factor - either good or bad? And, when it gets closer to the time for our new one to come home with us , should I take a pouch that Chloe has been sleeping in and a piece of my t-shirt to the new one to get use to our smell?

The pouch and t shirt are real good ideas. Any time you introduce two gliders together there is the risk that they simply may not like each other. Just follow the routine introduction procedures and hope for the best. Their ages are close enough that there should not be too big of a problem. If there is, wait a few months and try again when the new glider is about the same size as Chloe.

I wouldn't use the T-shirt as there is a risk of little toenails getting caught in the fabric. Fleece is a much better option. You can cut up a fleece remnant & sleep with it at night, then let the new baby sleep with it during the day. Are you getting a boy or a girl for Chloe? I have a 10 mo OOP female & a 7 mo OOP female that I put in with 8 week OOP males & have had no problem whatsoever. The girls have been showing the boys the ropes & helping teach them that Mommy & Daddy are good people! It's so sweet! I sure hope everything goes well for Chloe & her new pal! There shouldn't be an issue since the older glider is female!

The age shouldn't be a problem, but if you hold a t-shirt up to a light bulb, you'll notice tiny little holes between the threads, and this is just perfect for getting sharp little toenails stuck in them, like Monster said. I like to use a piece of flannel cut from a pajama top to keep in the pouch.

Thanks, I'm glad I asked. I'll get a piece of flannel or fleece to use. Thank you all so much. Everyone has been great during this tragic time. I never knew I could miss something so little so much.

aww...I know how you feel, believe me. I lost one that had been living with us for almost 14 years, and i'm still not over it, but having a new little baby to love helps a bunch. There's nothing better than bonding with your glider to the point where they probably love you even more than you love them. Hope you feel better soon, and enjoy your new friend for life!
