I have had both my babies since Tuesday, almost a week! (will have to get them something special! ) My baby boy has only bitten me experimentaly, grooming, or when I drop a mealie and he thinks I still have it (oops!). Though my female attacks my hands. I take them both out for play time and they stay in about the same five foot radius of me, no mater where I am. They jump off of me often for a little exploring in the glider safe room, but always run back to me. They never want to go back in their cage either! The male, Kage, seems to like me a little more then the female. I managed to put the female away for dinner time and was trying to get Kage back in the cage (he had been out for two hours and didn't even eat yet!) but he wouldn't go! I even tried offering him his sleeping pouch, but he just wanted to stay on my shoulder. I eventually bribed him back into the cage with a yogie, but when I shut it he latched to the side of the cage and barked at me. Has he already started bonding with me so much that he always wants to be with me? Does he just want to play regardless of my presence? I give them pleanty of play time and though Yume doesn't always want to go back in her cage, she gets over it instantaneously. I feel bad for putting Kage away because he always looks at me like I betrayed him

As a musician, I love the phrase: Always leave them wanting more.
Doesn't it feel good to be loved?

If my suggies had their way, they'd be running loose in their room all night! While it's logistically feasible, there has to be a limit to how much out-of-cage time they're given! They're about like a 2-year-old child: Yes it's wonderful to have playtime, but it's like every other good thing in the world--it has to end sooner or later! Kage just isn't into a routine with you yet, so don't be feeling guilty because you have to end his fun time. (Also beware that you're not starting a routine that you may end up regretting with the bribe thing: simply say "it's time to go back into your cage", close the door & walk away) sounds like good progress is being made in just a week! Keep going, you're on the right track!

the only problem is I can't get him back in the cage without a bribe lol. I've started using a feather between the bar of the cage to get him to hop in there, then I close it, but without incentive there's no way I can get him back in it

my guys also hate the end of playtime... and it's in my bathroom which is not connected to my room, so we have to use "pouch transit" between the 2... I use a red light in the bath room, so when playtime is over I just turn the light on and offer them their pouch, and they ususally climb right in... maybe something like that could work for you?

hm I'll have to try that. I have a purple light in my room, very soft lighting, that's why I chose it to be the suggie room. I'm going to put in one normal bulb not twisted all the way and twist it on when play time is over and see if they get the hint.

That may work! Making the end of playtime a little brighter with a regular light could give them the necessary hint. You can condition a suggie's behavior just like a cat (or pretty close to it). For instance, to stop my suggies from jumping on my face I stick out my arm when they're walking across the top of the blinds & say "FLY". They'll do their "ready set go" pose, but I stand firm & say "FLY" again then call them by name! They take off & land on my arm, then I tell them "Good boy/good girl" (it's much better than an out-of-control flight that results in a scratch on the eyeball!!) Yes, this will take a couple weeks (well, almost anything you try to train them will take a couple or 3 weeks), but consistency is the key.
