My Malachi has been constantly barking every night for the last few nights. I go over to him and talk to him, hold him and pet him and he is fine, but then as soon as I put him back in his cage and leave, he starts again. Any suggestions??? I have been keeping him with me in his pouch almost all day, then we have playtime for 2 hours every night in our tent (usually 10-12), then he goes in his cage for dinner, then the barking usually starts about 2 am and goes on all night. I have only had him for a about 2 months, is he bonding with me now and doesn't like being left alone?? He is still eating great, active, normal everything, just the barking. I do plan on getting him a friend soon, actually in a few weeks. I know I will have to do the 30 day quarentine, then move the cages closer then gradually introduce them to one another, so it will take awhile before they are together but do you guys think that he is lonely and a friend may help with this behavior? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

That's odd. Mine have been barking a lot the past few nights, as well. Have you tried turning on a nightlight or something near his cage? Turning on a radio? Usually things like that will console my gliders and they will stop barking, but recently they have barked their little heads off. Maybe it's the moon phase?

It's almost got to be the moon or something because all three of mine are going crazy. It's driving me nuts!

That really does make me wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the moon phases. Eeyore woke me up barking last night. He seems to do it in phases ie: a few nights a month. Makes you wonder...

I always used to rush in & pet & love & give treats, etc...Then my hubby pointed out that THEY had ME trained! LOL, sure enough, if I ignore them, they stop within 5 minutes. Of course, I always have to quietly poke my head in to make sure nothing's wrong. But, long story short, they were just using me for a midnight snack & a good rubdown!

One of mine was barking like a mad-glider this morning when I was getting ready for work. It was a little odd. He was hanging on the side of the cage and bark bark barking. I went to pick him up and he ran away from me. I eventually got him on my hand and reached into the pouch and ... no other glider. So that freaked me out. But I eventually found her hanging in the corner of the cage near where he was. She didn't want to come to me initially either. I gave them a good petting and a little piece of cheese apiece and put them back in the cage and within five minutes they were in the pouch asleep.

I think it's also my alarm clock, though. It beep beep beep beeps almost at the same pitch and maybe they think it's another glider.

HMMM...well I think I will give him a nightlight and leave the radio on for him and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe it is the moon mine also have all been barking the past week. I did put on a small light but it didn't make a difference. The radio did seem to help, but I also got a environments mood cd of night sounds in the forest. That seemed to make a big difference. I put in a portable cd player and have it loop the cd to run all night lone. They also like to come out more and play in there cages when it plays.
