My apologies if this has been asked before...

Someone told me that they put toilet paper or paper towel tubes in their glider cage for them to crawl through/chew on. Any idea if this could be harmful to them?

One more thing to think about...I wouldn't use the ones from the companies that glue the last square of TP onto the tubes. I don't know if the glue is toxic and a sick glider would be horrible way to find out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

There has been a couple of posts where a glider did get stuck in a roll and passed away not being able to get out. It was probably an adult glider though. Use with caution, or supervision.

Try a piece of larg wrapping paper tubing. (Not the skinny ones, the fat rolls where they try to convince you that there's more on the roll than there really is.)

I know that a lot of people use PVC pipes. It is sort of a different story, but I feel that the Toilet Paper rolls are dangerous to everything except Mice (who can fit completely inside them). I had one of my Ferrets nearly die from a toilet paper roll because she got her head stuck inside it and could not get it off.

My thoughts are: do we have any way to sanitize the toilet paper rolls? They have been in our bathrooms for a while, and every time you flush your toilet, a fine mist of bacteria is sent into the air. If your house is like mine, the rolls are near the toilet so they are exposed to bacteria like everything else near the toilet. Granted, they have paper covering them and most bacteria can't burrow, but I have not used toilet paper rolls because of that.

My hedgehogs love tp tubes, they run around with them on their heads thrashing about wildly. You'd think they are stuck, but then when you take the tube off they get mad and ball up. To keep the hedgehogs' heads from getting caught in the tube I cut the tube longways. It still makes a "tube" but they can easily get out. If you're going to use tp tubes that's a good way to keep your glider from getting stuck <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I hung one from the top of my gliders cage, as a swing, and it was the weirdest Spiderwraped his tail around the string and when he tried to get away he cried, and I thought he was stuck, but then I noticed he was holding the string, it wasn't wraped around the string or anything. but it looked like he was in pain so I'm never gonna put that toy in their cage again. I just can't risk anything happening. So I wouldnt use toilet paper rolls.
