I did think my glider was bonded to me, but now i feel different. He likes to play in the cage instead of playing in the room, he still crabbs when i put my hand in his pouch(only 1/3 of the time though, he used to do it all the time, he still bites(not as much), and he will jump on my brother then back to me then to my mom, so it is like he likes us all the same. I dunno, he does come to me when he is scared though, he'll sleep in my hand(didn't do that before, and will let me pet him while he is sleeping with out constantly biting me like he did when i first got him. I think i am having doubts because in a week i am getting him a friend. when i was driving to get him i also had doubt that i wouldn't make a good glider mom. I am contemplating not getting him a friend because i am scared the new glider won't like me either. I know this is a stupid question, but can someone tell me if they think he is bonded to me and if you think i should get another one. please help, thanks

teri, if you have only had him for 2 weeks, he probably is not fully bonded to you but for only two weeks, you have a great start! I have had gliders much longer then that(6 years!) that won't sleep in my hand. I think getting him a friend will be wonderful both for him and for you.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

Yea, bonded doesn't mean they'll behave, like, a well-trained cat or anything.

Mine like me just fine, but for some reason they refuse to do some things. They almost totally ignore toys ... If I put a feather teaser on the floor they'll rip it to shreds. If I wiggle it for them, they'll look at it, then follow the line back to my hand and ignore it.

They sort of like Barrel of Monkeys. They ignored them for days until I hung them all up in a line from their play-tree and HP found them, looked around, then started removing them one by one. It was quite weird.

But they don't particularly like to play with me more than, say, they like to climb the curtains. They'll come to me and take a treat if they know I have one, and when I walk in the door they'll run up my leg. Usually to snif, make sure its me, then run off and ignore me for half an hour.

I know this is off topic but, He doesn't really like to play very much, exept for in my closet and running around on my bed. He dosn't play with his toys. I was told that the new glider i am getting is very playful and likes to play with his toys and on his wheel, do you think he can teach my glider how to play on his toys and wheel? He would rather sleep in a pouch than in my hand, but he doesn't mind it much, i think he likes the warmness my hand gives him. I am also the only one who has ever gotten kisses from him, and a face hug(ouch!) He is my baby, but i dont feel the love back for some reason.(exept when i give him worms and lickey trests) I know it sounds strange, but for the past 4 days he hasn't had any worms because we havn't been to the pet store, so can it be that he is mad at me for not giving him his mealies? I dunno.

if i may ask, how old was he when you got him? If you got him very early he may not have really been taught by mom and dad know HOW to play with certain things . and if you have only 1 that can deffinately cause some behavioral problems .
even though it sounds like you give your little one lots of love and attention there's still something about a glider having a friend of his own kind to play with like a glider, not necessarily like a human .

I deffinately think that if you only have 1 nothing but good could come from a friend for your baby .

and yes the new suggie could help teach your fuzzbutt how to play with other things the glider way .

GOOD LUCK with everything! -Joy

I got him when he was 11 months old. I did not know before hand, but she didnt give him any toys or a wheel to play with(he only had a 2ft tall cage too)and he was seperated from other gliders he used to play with.(didn't know that till after i got him) The reason i am getting him a friend is because he seemed lonely, and there is no way that i would want any animal to feel lonely. I will be picking up his friend next weekend sometime.

that's awesome your gettin him a friend teri .. i remember you telling me about your first little one being "rescued". poor guy, bein' in a 2 ft tall cage and nothin to ply with . that could deffinately be the source of some of his problems. you sound like you really care for your little ones ... i'm sure that everything will work out and you'll do a fine job with these guys ! -Goodluck! (and you know theres always someone here for you!)
