I just got a group of 4 little gliders, and now that I have figured out how and what to feed them, I am curious as to how to tell them apart. One of them missed out on mealies because she didn't want to come out of the pouch, then after the other three finished, they all dove back in. Plus I'm just trying to keep tabs on all of them. They're rescues (someone just left them at my school, I had no idea what they were, but I knew they needed homes), so I just want to keep an them, but it's hard when they all seem to look alike. The only one I can tell apart is the male, and one female because she is bigger. The other two look almost identical, enough at least that I have a hard time knowing which one is which.

In time you will be able to tell them apart. Some clues to look for are the shape of the face and how fluffy the tail is. The tail is how I could tell my 3 apart at first.
Good luck with this! You sure did dive in the deep end! They are lucky.

as you watch them.. their personalities may differ.. one may be more curious than the other.. and you may be able to tell them apart that way..

When I got the twins, Sage and Neutered brother Surge, I felt the same way… they look completely alike and being neutered Surge does not even have a bald spot! At a glance into the cage it can still be difficult for me to tell, but they definitely have personality traits that easily give them away. It will take time but you will get the hang of it …

SO have you come up with names yet?

It's true-after you spend a lot of time with them, you can tell them apart.

However, I currently have twin girls that I'm having a hard time telling apart. I decided to trim the very tip of the fur on one of the girl's tails, so it's not a point. I can tell them apart now.

I guess it wouldn't work for all of them, but may be one? I hope this suggestion helps a little.

I've heard you can put nailpolish on their claws to tell them apart. It might be difficult to do if they don't trust you too much yet.

Also, when taking in rescues the first thing you should do is take them to the vet to make sure they don't have any diseases that could be contagious. The vet will be able to tell you what sex they are, and it's just an idea but they could shave a little bald area on their backs to tell them apart.

The way I tell mine apart is I look at the face. One is more white in the face/ears. The other has a more tannish color to him. I also look at the back end of them in case it's dark and I can't see. The one with more white has a stripe that goes all the way back to the tail. The one with more tan doesn't. His stripe stops just before the tail.

Since they were pretty much orphaned, I'm thinking about Oliver (or Olivia), and Annie.

And I am taking them to the vet tomorrow. I had to find one first!

I couldnt tell my 2 girls apart but after spending more time with them I know who is who. I had the problemof one staying in the pouch when it was mealie time so when Daisy was on the bottom of the cage eating mealies, I fed Dixie mealies in her pouch. I just dropped one in and listened to hear if she was eating it. It only took 2 mealies for her head to pop out for another
