Statesville NC...no gliders yet but looking to get one or two here in the near future. Anyone recommend breeders / pet shops / rescues near by?

There are several small scale breeders near Raleigh on here.
Also you can always checkout petfinder. I found Miss Oz on there or craigslist.
Just buyer beware when using those.
Make sure your very careful with who your dealing with

Please, never get a glider from a pet store. They usually come from substandard breeding/husbandry places, and are usually not taken care of properly when at the store. Also, "rescuing" gliders from situations like that only continue the problem.

I found my gliders on hoobly and also the classifieds here. I know that there were some gliders in your area listed on petfinder. I'm not sure if they still have them, you might want to check.

You guys are all close enough for the NC get together that Laurie and I are trying to put together. ;o)

I'm in Gastonia, NC and have had my little Smooch for 5 months. Unfortunately, my husband relocated back in California to open a restaurant, so it appears that I will be commuting quite a lot. California is an illegal state for suggies, so I really don't want to take the chance of taking him with me all the time. I may be looking for someone to watch him when I'm gone, or even though it breaks my heart, I may need to find a new home for him.

Kinston, NC here. I have to agree and somewhat disagree w/ purchasing one from the pet store. I got my female and male from a local pet store in my shopping mall. My female is loveable, my male... hmmm... he was an adult when I got him & he has been harder to train. I had no problems w/ my female. Now I have 2 more... they had their first babies and are now 3 days oop. A male & female. (Amarri & Eja)

Hi everyone!!! I live in Jacksonville, NC. I do not have any gliders yet, but am in the process of researching owning a suggie. I am interested in meeting up with anyone who lives in the area (such as Wilmington, New Bern, Jacksonville, possiblly even Raleigh areas) that is the owner of 1 or more sugar gliders, or a USDA certified breeder. I would really like to see/interact with them and watch them interact with their owners so I can make a decision as to whether being a suggie owner would be right for our family. (Although, I'm sure once I see them it will be a definite YES!!) You don't have to live in these specific areas necessarily, I was just giving a general area. I could probably even arrange a meeting with someone in Virgina Beach, VA as I have in-laws who live there that we will be visiting around the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks for reading, everyone. I would LOVE to. Asheville is a beautiful city. I haven't travelled out west in over a year. I miss it. I'm sure my hubby wouldn't mind the ride. He has to go to Raleigh every month because of the Army and an impending deployment. Raleigh is alot closer to Asheville than Jacksonville!

Was a member here in 2005 I believe it was. Until my little girl Penny passed away and I was to sad to try again. But now I have had many moons to think about it...lol. I'm going to be starting my search to look for a new little girl. Trying to make I still remember everything. Still remember the aweful taste of BML...hahahaha

I live in Richlands near Jacksonville. I love my Gliders. I have two beautiful leucistics and two sweet lue hets. I have had suger gliders in the past but had to rehome them when I was stationed in CA due to the Marine Corps. Now I am living in NC I can have my sugar babies again. I will be here for a while and thought it would be nice to meet others in the area who also has sugar babies;-)

We had a m/f pair but lost our precious male two weeks ago to a respiratory infection. Our little girl is becoming very lonely so we are desparately seeking another male to keep her company. If anyone knows of one please let me know.

Hi everyone. I noticed a couple of people from Wake Forest. Did you find your sugar gliders close to WF or did you all have to travel to get them?

What does everyone think about shipping them? Is it safe for them or too stressful?

Basically we have been getting as much info as possible for the past three months and are finally confident that we are ready to bring 2 home. Now I'm just not sure how to find the best place to get them from.

Oh wow I didn't realize how many ppl lived nearby that owned suggies! Cool. I'm fairly new to this site and really love it. I'm in High Point. I have 2 male greys 9 mos old. Dakota & Bandit. I also have a black lab/golden retriever mix and a bobtail cat - both were rescues.

If you are going to Clarksville, you should see about meeting Bourbon. She can teach you SOOOOOO much about gliders. And she can be a lot of fun too.

I'm not sure if his owner is on GC, I dont think so, but his name is Jason Linkous. I found his ad on petleeg and when I inquired he seemed to be very nice, just didn't have enough room for a couple of his babies.

Boone is wonderful! Winter is a bit harsh but the area is so beautiful it's worth it. I love this town And I am originally from Charlotte! I love Charlotte too but Boone is more my style town.

I was actually in Huntersville/Cornelius. I'm sooooo homesick.

I am looking for other leu breeders that would be willing to ship from the Charlotte airport. That is where I will be shipping my joeys from. I like having one cage of gliders and spoiling them (at least for now) But that means anyone who buys from me for breeding purposes has to get a mate somewhere else. I'm looking for a local someone else, ideally If this is you or you know of someone, let me know and we can exchange lineage to see if it will work

I asked if he's in New Bern because my hubby's family is from Raleigh, but our best friend lives in New Bern and we head down that direction once or twice a year.

He's actually in Camp Lejeune but close to Jacksonville & New Bern.

I'm looking for vet references from people who have gone to the actual vet & can say yes i can trust that vet or no don't go there.

I don't trust lists because that doesn't tell me if they are actually good or safe to go to.

Yep, that's why I said to post in Health & Hygiene because you will probably find more than one person who have either used that vet or have knowledge from someone they know having used them.
