I was just feeding my gliders and when I went to stick their food bowls in the cage, I found my male glider, cold to touch and so lethargic. I have him on a heating pad now and offered him baby food that he will lick off my finger as well as water that he will have. What else should I do? The closest vet is over 2 hours away that sees exotics. I need all the advice I should get.. HURRY!

You need to keep this baby as warm as possible, and get him to an emergency vet NOW. Any vet will do at this point, they don't HAVE to treat exotics. Do you need help finding a local emergency vet?

In the meantime, I believe Pedialyte is what is recommended. You can offer it to him frequently. Do that while someone else is driving you to the vet.

Oh - and you don't need an exotics vet. Any vet that is open will see him, give him sub-q fluids and should be able to see if he needs antibiotics. Get him to the closest open vet.

The best thing to get the body temp up (but not overheat your glider) is to put him on you, against your skin, as your body heat will bring him up safer than keeping him on a heating pad alone. That way you can also keep a close eye and know what is going on with him. At this point, any vet will do, if there is one that has emergency hours, just show up, they can't turn you away nearly as easily if you are already there. He may be dehydrated and need sub-Q and any vet can do this.

It looks like this little one is at the vets or on the way, so I am going to move this to Health & Hygiene now.

:{ ... He didnt make it.. I called the vet before I got there so by the time I arrived they had warm fluids and a bunch of supplies set up for him. They gave him fluids and he perked up and was starting to move little by little but then his breathing began to get harder and the doctor told me he was in pain and thought it was best to have him put to sleep.. He leaves behind a "girlfriend" and two joeys in pouch RIP Caique Thanks for all your support and advice. I appreciate it

I'm sorry for your loss.
I was really hoping this guy would make it. So sad ...
I'm glad he is at peace now. Hollis is right - comfort yourself by comforting her. She needs you now.
