Jen, you know she is in the best hands right now. Give Myst an extra snuggle for me, she knows something is up. Momma will make her feel better, I'm sure. If you want to talk, I'm here. But get some sleep first, if you can.
Shawna Who are you networked with? Networking could save your gliders life. Create one now.
Prayers and more prayers going out for her. She is such a fighter and is getting the best possible care. We are all pulling hard for her to get through this. Please keep us all posted when you can, Jen and try to get a little rest if you can.
Sending thoughts, prayers, hugs and much love out to you both.

Jen, I was hoping so hard that after I talked to you this morning that I'd be getting a happier update tonight. I was really hoping that the additional warmpth of the incubator you had just gotten would help her out. I know that she is in good hands and that she is where she needs to be, but I also know how hard it is for you to have left her there. Many hugs & prayers are going out tonight to you both.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I just went through dehydration for the first time and thought I had it bad....but you sound so strong! Lyah is lucky to have a mom like you! My prayers and hugs are with you both!

Jen, will Lyah have someone there all night? Just wondering if it's a 24 hr. place she's at.
A few more are praying for her from here...

Dr. Harris wants to evaluate her for a few more hours today. She's breathing better than she was last night, but it's still not right. Likely due to the oxygen rich environment she's in. I think if I'd kept her home, she wouldn't be here today. Dr. Harris thinks she's good enough to get in and look at her teeth, too.
One of the things I forgot to mention yesterday is about every hour she'd open her mouth to breathe for 4 or 5 big breaths as well. Not open huge-like I've seen agonal breathing with a dying glider...more like how open it is when they crab at you (which would be normal for Lyah), only this seemed to be to get air.
Dr. Harris knows Lyah well enough she said yesterday when Lyah let her touch her, didn't move, didn't crab "That's not Lyah" ...today she's crabbing at the vet so that's a good thing all by itself-her attitude is coming back lol.
Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes-she really needed them and they're working! I realized just how much I was expecting to hear she'd crossed to the Bridge this morning when Dr. Harris gave me some good news this morning-she really was that bad. It's not over yet, tho-so if you've got some to spare she can still use them.
I'll have more news later this afternoon, and may be able to bring her home closer to 5:00 (mountain time)

That is great news Jen I was thinking about you both this morning and praying she made it through the night. You tell that little one to crab all she wants and get better soon.
I'm so glad that she's doing a bit better today, and I hope she continues to improve. I know how much you must have hated having to leave her with the vet, on the other hand you always do right by your babies even when its hard, and its great that the oxygen chamber seems to have helped.
I know she's not out of the woods yet, and I'll continue to pray for her to get better, but I'm glad she's still with us after all that; goodness knows not all would be. You and Dr. Harris really do make an excellent team, and it's great that there are not only amazing glider owners like yourself out there, but wonderful vets like Dr. Harris out there as well.
I'm sure this whole thing is also hard on Myst, being seperated from her sister for the time being; may it only be for a short period of time.
On a final note, I see that the ex did decide in the end to take the family, and that you've kept my babies; may they continue to bring happiness to your days.
Please let me know if there's anything that I can do for you!
That is great news Jen! Although Lyah is not out of the woods yet I will be praying for the sweet girl, and your sanity!

This is a bit off topic, but I just wanted to share quick where Lyah's name came from (major shot nerves going on here). There's a Stargate SG1 character called Lya of the Nox (when I named Lyah I had no clue how to spell it, I'd only heard it spoken, but got pretty close, lol). Anyhow, the Nox had the incredible ability to heal each other-even from death, and the character was actually brought back. I'm hoping that even though her namesake is fictional she can do the same thing. I know Myst (named for the game) is going to love having her back later-or at least getting to visit.
Here's a link where there's a pic of the "real" Lya(h):
**If this is too off topic I'll remove it, but I'm just hoping like the character she can survive this, and not start to crash again when she comes home.

Jen I am so glad she is improving. We will still be keeping her in our thoughts and Prayers until she is well again. Give her a few extra lovins from all of us.
Thank you for the update.
Have a Good Day Brenda & Mr. Magoo
Friendly Reminder please have an e-collar ready before you need it......
An hour and a half before I can call and check on her again...tick tock
I think I also forgot to mention that by the time I walked (ran?) into the vet's office yesterday with her her third eylids were becoming prominent as well (and I've seen a couple people post they don't have them...on most gliders you'll never see them, but they ARE there, are white, and it's a definite indication of a problem when visible) as her breathing distress increased...both eyes showed the third lid about an eighth of an inch on the lower inside corner by the nose. It would sink back when she blinked, then creep up again. I saw them once before on her when her face was swollen at it's worst with her teeth and her eyes took on an almost sunken appearance from the pressure.
Sorry-I was so exhausted yesterday I knew I'd forgotten some things and trying to get all of her symptoms in her thread.
And thanks! Lyah has the second most beautiful face I've ever seen on a glider (the first was Dana) - even the vet thinks she's got the most beautiful face-it's really striking when she feels good and there's no swelling. Lyah of the Nox was beautiful, too. Then there was the fact that she and Myst were in such bad shape when I got them from the CCW booth as 1-1 1/2 year olds at the SLC Home Show (I was there for something else) their survival was in question, so I wanted meaning with it as well-and naming for luck never hurts, either. He wanted $200 each for them. He let them go after a scathing lecture from me and my husband for the $127 I was able to scrape up on the spot-and that was for BOTH gliders, not each. Her beauty took time to show...she was SO painfully thin when she came home with me in Oct. of 2004, and so very scared and angry, neglected, dirty, stinky, and hungry.
Here's a pic from an early tent time-they'd been with me a couple weeks. Lyah is the one eating the yogurt drop:
I'll post the pic I took yesterday morning before the vet, and a new one from today later.

Oh Jen! Isn't Dr. Harris a life saver?? LITERALLY?? I love her so much... Best wishes going out to you and your little girl! Please keep us posted, and if you need anyone down in SLC for anything, I'm like 2 mins from Dr. Harris.
PS - please don't fret about getting me that Ecollar until things have cooled down for you!! You need to get past this then hide indoors a few days it sounds like lol!
