Every care sheet I have read said that you add 3/8 to one can of ensure. Ensure doesn't come in cans anymore, it comes in a bottle. The bottle is 8 fl oz. I added 3/8 to the bottle and it made it taste bad so now he doesn't eat that much. So is that how much everyone adds to the bottle? Thank you

I've had my guys on Darcy's for about 2 years. 3/8 tsp of Jurassical is to be added, shake well (to distribute and suspend the calcium), and serve. Jurassical is a pretty tasteless fine calcium powder, and as far as I could tell, you couldn't taste a difference (and yes, I've tasted the powder, and the Ensure with the powder, myself). None of mine seem to care whether it's in there or not. I have no idea why it would make it taste bad, unless you maybe got a bad bottle of Ensure somehow?

Well, I use the liquid so maybe there is a difference in the liquid and the powder. I have tasted the ensure mixture and it tasted pretty bad after I added jurassical.

Lol, have you tasted it before the calcium, it doesn't taste much better I use the WalMart brand of ensure. It taste a lot better to me and my gliders seem to like it better as well... As far as the calcium goes, I use human grade calcium supliment that I grind up in a coffee grinder, so I don't know if the liquid or powder version of Jurassical would make a differance.

Just a curiosity question sufarflidersuz, why are you supplementing with Ensure? Last I heard you weren't supposed to give Ensure unless you were using Darcy's? Do I get to learn something new?

Dayla, if you're trying to get a glider's weight up, it's okay to add a bit of ensure to the existing diet, as long as they're eating their other staple. If low weight or illness is not an issue, I'd go with one or the other. It's a bit high calorie for just a treat, and will throw other diet ratios off. I'd think if it was an expectant/nursing mom, supplementing just her with it in addition to her regular diet wouldn't hurt, either. But we are getting off topic, here. All I can think is maybe it was that bottle of ensure. If you didn't taste it before the calcium, no way to know. Personally, I don't think Ensure tastes bad..it's very sweet-probably why most gliders like it so well. I have never used the generic brands, either, so no clue on that. But I have no experience with liquid calcium, either, so can't offer anything there.
