ok ive got 3 bonding pouches and 3 gliders each have been on me to get my smell other than when im fishing dont want that smell on them. Now the tricky part. How on earth do i get them in their? they dont want in there they get out of the cage they want to play even when ive woke them up to go in there thats all they want is to come out and play. Rocky and superman havent been handled as much before we had them and i regrettfully say that they are the biters so im not always wanting to get bit so they dont get petted as much. it seems like when im trying to get them in the bonding pouch im fighting with them to get in there and to me that seems like im taking 3 steps back. are there any tricks to try for a reluctant glider. there isnt anyone in the ft riley area that wants to show me this is there??

You could try putting the bonding pouches in the cage and let them sleep in them and when you want to hold them in the bonding pouch just take it out while they are sleeping in it.

that would possibly work but im slightly concerned with the safty of the yarn being in the cage.

Are you talking about crocheted bonding pouches? You're right, the yarn can be dangerous. Can you get some plain ol' fleece bonding pouches? Hanging them in the cage to use as sleeping pouch is definitely the most hassle-free way to get the gliders into bonding pouches, but follow your gut about safety.

nope i wasnt. the bonding pouch they have is fleece with a yarn drawstring. i dont like the crocheted pouches, i want something to slow the pee down when its going down my belly. Also how big should they be? they easily fit one glider cozily. in order to hang it in the cage shouldnt it fit all 3 since that is how they will sleep. but then id have to kick them out to bond with one. im pretty sure if given the option of sleeping away from each other or not sleeping in a pouch they will sleep on the ground if they had to.

why dont you just get a bigger bonding pouch? i've heard that it's just as easy to carry them together (as long as they are housed together and get along) i just got my two babies yesterday and they loved the bonding pouch on the long drive home... also why dont you try tent time its also a very good way of bonding. and one last suggestion if you want to just bond with the 2 your having the most problems with why dont you get a sissy pouch "match-maker" ??
hope this helps.

they love the tent. although we need to bring out more military gear for it due to the fact that eyeballs make good targets. the problem with the bonding pouch is i dont think theyve ever been used on them. so its kinda scary. i think since grapes are the major inticement i think im going to try and trick them. OK what is this sissy pouch everyone is talking about? Never seen em never heard of em until you guys. if someone could show me a picture of one i might be able to make it wich would be great for me.

the sissy pouch can be found at www.sweetandsoursugargliders.com

They are made by a very sweet lady who can be found on this board. She has lots of pictures on her site and makes the pouches very well. Her pouches are very popular on this board. I have a couple myself and I love them!

The way I got my glider trained to the pouch is lure her in with her favorite treat. Then when she is in I close it, put it on me,and offer her a treat about every ten minutes. Now all I have to do is open the cage and she ready to climb in.

Good grief you guys go through a lot of trouble....
I just take the sleeping pouch right out of the cage, put it on my lap and put the bonding pouch in front and they crawl right from the sleeping pouch top the bonding pouch. On days they don't want to go to the bonding pouch, I dump them out onto my lap and then toss the sleeping pouch back into the cage, then they race for the bonding pouch cause it's the closest hiding spot, lol.

It really stresses my guys out when I chase them all over the cage, so I just don't do it. If I get up in the morning and get ready to go to work, and they are awake, then I put the bonding pouch in there, and if they get in it, than they go with me for the day, if not, I just leave them, maybe they need a day of rest from the office too!

Both my guys were biters, but Indie was the worst about the bonding pouch. Thus her name, Indie 500, cause I couldn't even watch TV when I first started carrying her in the pouch. I watched all my shows in closed caption cause she would crab the WHOLE time she was in the bag and on me. She got over it eventually and now she's the first one to crawl into the day bag in the morning when we head off to work!
This is also a good way to avoid being bitten cause you don't have to man handle them. I just kind of push them from one bag to the other, pretty simple and far less stressful for the little guys than you grabbing them out of their pouch and putting them in another.
