GOOD NEWS! Apollo opened one of his front hands today and tried to hang onto the cage with it! Keep us in your prayers! The vet called yesterday to let us know he is still talking to other vets on the exotic vet site and no one has seen the front hands curled up. They are all asking him specific questions, diet etc... and helping him determine what tests to run. He is going to call back in a few days to get us in for blood work and the tests he and the other exotic vets determine necessary. Maybe it will be gone by then!

That is great news!!! Hopefully things were caught early enough that he will soon have a full recovery. Many hugs to Apolo and sending prayers for a continous recovery! Thank you for the update.

What is on the spinners and the Simpson's toys that made them toxic? It is not the acrylic itself is it? I have used acrylic toys for many years with no problems at all, even the colored acrylics...

I don't know about the spinners but the Simpson's toys were the rubber/plastic ones that came from a burger king happy meal and the new movie. You would think they were safe since they were in a kids happy meal. It is the only thing different in his cage and now after removing the toys almost a week later he has started to use one of his hands again so I would have to guess that had something to do with it. I am guessing it has something to do with the smell on the rubber/plastic that was effecting him.

That scares me - perhaps if you still have the toys you could send them in somewhere for toxicity testing? If there is a problem with them, kids should not have them either!

My son threw them out as soon as someone suggeted that they might be the cause of the problem! I have not checked on line to see if they have been recalled but need to.
