I've read on the site where some of you have lost your little ones, and now I know how easy it is to do. Last night, I let my guys out. I then counted them as they went back in the cage. They all went in the pouch. Right after they went in, I picked up the papers and put in fresh paper, changed their water, and put in the food bowls, and put out the trash. At no time did I leave the cage door open when I wasn't right in front of it. I looked in the pouches, and saw a bunch of little feet and hands.

This morning, I woke up and gave everyone their morning treat. My Shae was gone! I looked in all the toys, and started tearing the room apart. After an hour of searching, I looked in the outside garbage. She was hopping around in there!!! I took it in the garage, and got her out. If it had been Wednesday, the garbage man would have got her. The only thing that I can figure is that she sneaked out after I put her in the cage. (She always wants out, and knows that I don't always let her do that. Her preference is to sleep on the computer CPU, and gets annoyed if I put her in the cage, even after several hours.)

Wow ! Are you ever lucky
SO she was in the trash all night ? I am sure you were beside yourself when you noticed that she was gone this am. I am glad you got her in time so that the garbage man or another animal didn't.
Shae had her guardian angel watching over her.
Glad she is safe back in your home.

Glad you found her, I'm sure you were very relevied. Hopefully there wasn't anything in the trash that she could have eaten that would hurt her. I'd keep an eye on her to make sure for the next few days that everything is normal. You were very lucky to find her and I'm sure she is glad that you did.

I am so glad that she is ok and that you found her! What a difference a few hours made, the thoughts of what could have happened are unbearable! Those little ones can be so quick.....

A similar thing happened to me... I was going to do laundry, and right when I stuck a blanket in the washer Vince popped out! He was so close to being drowned and spinned to death!

While i was reading your post my heart was up to my throat and finally let out a big sigh of relief that you found her unharm. What an aweful experience. Lucy did the same thing but she escaped and jumped in front of my Siberian Husky and thank god Vesta didnt get a hold of her. She went inside my closet and i tore that closet apart until i found her. My dumb boyfriend left the cage open by accident when he fed them.

I am so very glad that your story had a happy ending. It is so nice when we can learn a life's lesson from something that did not turn into a disaster.
