I came in to my room tonight and saw that my girl's joey was OOP. Naturally I freaked out and hit the forum. Judging from the pictures on http://www.geocities.com/gliderlove/joeygrowth.html the joey is about 60 days IP. It seems like it should be coming out now, but it was just left on the bottom of the cage. I'm really worried. What am I supposed to do? Will the mother take it back if she's near it? please respond ASAP. If you have any info that will help you can email me directly at dempsey_matt@bentley.edu. Thanks.

Ok, so while I was getting the joey off of the cage floor the mom got out. I took the joey cupped it against my shirt and held my hand over for added warmth. I enticed the mom to climb on me and once she saw the joey a few times she let the joey get on her. I didn't want to try and grab her or anything so she ended up running off again before i could get her in the cage. I will update once i find if the joey is still with her.

If you have an emergency vet close you could try and get puppy/kitten milk replacer and a feeding syringe.. Do you have a heating pad and a glass tank or totebin?

any unusual sounds if the mom is making a "sneezing sound" that is ok but any crabbing I would be worried about

ok heres the home life. Dad and mom are both together. Baby back in pouch. it's quieted down in there. mom is still in pouch with baby. tonight was the first time I saw the little guy. i didnt realize he was so big already. he was warm when i put him in the pouch. I do have a glass tank as well as the plastic ones with the lids on them. I have to look around, but i do have a small heating pad. i don't have pedialyte, feeding syringe, kitten milk, or an emergency vet. there is a 24 hour Price Chopper about 25 minutes away.

They may have puppy replacer there.. Keep a close eye on mom and dad and call Suz if you need further help Im going to have to go offline but you can call Suz and she can help you better than I can.. And there ARE emergency vets might be a bit of a drive but they would def have the #9 cathader and puppy replacer to use for feeding your joey.

Mom came out of pouch with baby nursing. his feet were hanging out, but that's normal right? I am in Douglas, MA. It's south central MA. Besides the obvious joey being left on the ground, are there any other signs that I need to be watching for?

Any News? You will need a #5 Cath. for feeding, 1 CC syringe, esbilac powder puppy milk. Always make sure the baby is warm before trying to feed a rejected joey. The parents will reject a cold baby. Keep us posted. Anita

So they made it through the night together. The Joey is pretty much back in mom's pouch (a few odds and ends are sticking out). Joey is nursing and I didn't hear any out of the ordinary noises. I'm still going to keep an eye on it, but it seems like things are good for now. Thanks to everyone for your help and concern.

I'm happy to hear that so far the joey is back with mom and she is accepting it. I would suggest that you go ahead and gather up the supplies necessary for hand raising just in case. Sometimes they still will reject them. Let's pray that she doesn't, but it's better to be safe and prepared. Also, please jot this phone number down you will want to talk to Sugarglidersuz, she is exceptionally knowledgable with Breeding and Babies and she will be more than happy to talk with you ant time of the day or night. Phone numbers: home 440-953-0904 toll-free (home) 866-399-4476 cell 440-520-4799 work 440-846-2665 (usually on M & Th, from 9 - 2)
Please don't hesitate to call her! Wishing you all the best for your new little one! Sending hugs and prayers your way...
