I've had my female, Lucy, for about a month. She had something on the bridge of her nose that I thought was a scab or some dried yogurt or something, but it's still there after a month. I tried scratching it today and it's really hard and stuck on, though she didn't mind me messing with it. Just wonder if it's something to be worried about? She's a happy little glider besides that, eats all her food, and jumps around. Any thoughts? I'm gonna try to get close up pics of her face.

It may be dried up food... if the area is worrying you just take her in to the vet for a wellness check and ask him about it. Wellness checks are very inexpensive, and you can leave feeling assured you have a healthy baby!

What diet do you feed her? It kinda looks like aclump of BML dried & stuck there. But I really believe its a scab. I would clean the area with the warm water dipped q-tip and then use the neosporin on it for the next couple of days. That should help it out by softening it up. If it starts to look inflamed or swollen & red then take her to the vet. Other than that she looks good and healthy and her coat looks good. Anita

I don't feed them bml, I use the happy glider + fruits, veggies, and mealies. The only kind of food it could be would be yogurt or something like the squishy part of a pea... I'll try the q-tips and neosporin and let you know. Thanks!

Yeah her nails are sharp; I need to put the trim trax in but my boyfriend is trying to make his own out of sandpaper... we'll see how that goes...

Also - that's an awkward area for her to clean by herself. Does she have a cage mate? If not, then it could very well indeed be a mess that got dried on and she just doesn't notice it anymore. If she didn't act uncomfortable at all when you scraped at it, I am not convinced it is a scab. Never can be too careful tho, so try the warm wet q-tip, neosporin and/or non-emergency vet check-up. How long has it been there?

Yes, she has a cage mate. It has been there since I got her about a month ago. I wasn't concerned until I realized it's been there for a long time and hasn't seemed to change/diminish.

Well... tried the warm q-tip idea and now I think I'm convinced it's a scab because it did soften a little and come up, and bled a tiny bit. It seems strange that it doesn't seem to hurt her. I mean, she would never just sit there and let me clean it (she would rather eat the q-tip) but she didn't crab at all. She did make the hissing noise when I let her back in her pouch. From what I saw with the q-tip, it seems to go deep or just be a thick scab. I'm definatley taking her to the vet on monday now... how would she get this kind of wound just from scratching herself? I did manage to coat it in neosporin and I think I'll just let it sit until the vet, since I can't stand to think I'm hurting her. She was very good about it all, especially since she wants to be out playing. I hope I'm not just being neurotic and messing with something that should be left alone!!!

Well since she has a cagemate they could have had a little scuffle and she got scratched on her nose from either one having long & sharp nails. The wound area was probably slightly deep and a gliders wound heals from the inside out. Which would make for a thick scab. The vet will probably use a magnifier to see how deep it looks to be. But it will probably come off soon. Especially if you keep it clean & use the neosporin on it. Please let us know what the vet says on Monday. Sending healing prayers to your little one. Anita

Personally, I wouldn't mess with it. I would get her into the vet and let them figure it out. A scab is one thing but it should NOT still be there after a whole month. If it was constantly being reopened by her or her cagemate, you would have noticed some type of liquid or blood from it at some point. It could even possibly be a mole of sorts. My big boy has a mole behind his shoulder blades but down some. I lost it when I first found it. I didn't know gliders could have one! LOL Let us know what it is please! Prayers sent it's nothing and will either heal up or she just has a beauty mark!

Just wanted to let you guys know I got her into the vet today and he said the "scab" was a bunch of dead tissue from a deep wound, down to the bone. He cut off all the dead tissue so it could heal properly, sealed it with surgical glue, and gave her an antibiotic shot. She also has to take antibiotics for ten days. I'm so glad I took her to the vet, because it wouldn't have healed without the dead tissue taken out of the way. I'll try to get "after" pictures tonight
