OK, so who has the best cage for gliders? Of course, this is a "bellybutton" question because it revolves around opinion. I have two gliders and a cage that is 36" tall, by 27" wide and 18" deep, but I *might* get another glider. Even if I don't, I'd like a better and larger cage. The one I have now is the basic rectangle shape of pvc coated galvanized wire. It has two ledges and is fairly spacious for these guys. However, as we all know, bigger is better.
Thanks, in advance, for all the suggestions!

Oh and pictures too… I love to see what other have created…. I built one that is 5ft high x 4ft long x 2 ½ ft deep, but totally did not plan properly for the bottom of the cage and need to rip it apart and do something different so I am always looking for ideas….
And last but not least Spikes cage...He was in with Pepper, Bear and Dasher for a time being until he started stealing all the food from the others and a dominance issue started with him and Dasher...
His cage is about an inch and a half shy of 7' X 3' X 2 '
This is a picture of two cages I made into one. It is 3'x2'x6'tall. I took the top off of one and the bottom off another and made some wood spacers to hold them together. The wood was grooved into an H so the cages would fit into the grooves. So far it has worked wonderfully and takes apart into two 3 foot sections for easy cleaning. Currently my colony of 6 live in it while I build their new 3'x5'x 7'tall cage.

I love my cage from K&D Exotics . It's PVC coated and I love it. I have the 5 foot tall cage. It's 2' across and 2' deep. I currently have two of my gliders in there but it would fit another. I would definately recommend their cages
I believe that if you contact them thye'll work with you to make a cage to fit a size you want. You can also buy the materials to make one but I found it easier to just buy from the since they put it halfway together for you. I also comes with a drop pan. It's fairly light but just awkward to carry because of the size. I made a stand for mine with wheels on it to make it easier to manuever around.

Ok, I'm definitely feeling inspired. I'm trying to decide whether I can build a better cage or whether I should just buy one. I know I can build a larger cage for probably less money than I would spend on at least a five or six footer. I'm enjoying this thread, though. Lots of great info and pics!

WOW SRLB!! those cages are awesome! you've just motivated me LOL!
I know that if you look around feed/farm stores you can probably find the coated wire and drop pans and other supplies! if you use wood be sure you remember to shellac (did i spell that right?) it first.
and i can't for the life of me remember who/where wrote this but i read here that someone accidently built themselves inside of the cage before they stoped to think about it! LOL sounds like somethin us crazy glider people would do gettin' so carried away with our excitement!

Thanks for the kind words! The *kiddos* LOVE these cages, they dont even want to come out and play in the room anymore...they always go right back to the cage and look at me like, Mom lets go in and play!
as for this statement....

Here is a picture of one of my new cages (I have 3 more jut like it). The lighting in glider room isn't very good for taking pictures, but you can get idea...
The cage is on the small side, it messures 16 wide x 16 deep x 30 tall. It's made from coated aluminum mesh. It has 2 doors in the front. The larger, top door swings out to the side, which the smaller bottem door flips upwards. The bottem is a peice of plastic that allows you to just wipe off messes. The cages only weigh a couple pounds each are are very easy to clean (you can just spray them off in the shower and then blow dry or air dry them).

Kristin, The cage from K&D looks really awesome. Looks really well built! I would love to get one about six feet tall at least. Of course, who among us doesn't want the best for their glider(s). I'm still trying to figure out if I have the time and inclination to build one myself or whether I just want to take the easy way out and just buy one. Any way you slice it, I've apparently got glideritis. I've noticed that almost every sentence is about or seven degrees removed from a glider!

Jimbo...I really like their cages. really well built and sturdy. I am actually planning on buying another 5' tall cage from them in August when my college financial aid money comes in!
As for building it, I know that people have, but for me, the time and stress saved by buying theirs makes up for the extra cost. I'm not super handy so for me not to have to put ALL sides together and figure out the drop pan and the doors, it's just better all around. Safer too LOL
Either way, I really think you'll like the PVC coated cages if you get one. Way quieter than the metal bird cages and my gliders like having the horizontal bars to hold on to to manuever around. Soem say they get sticky from the pee but I wipe mine down daily with Clorox wipes and they clean easily.

i got mine off ebay (australia) our prices seem to be more expensive then yours, for $190 (included shipping) and so far i like it, i havent fully assembled it yet and i havent got gliders yet. but this is the ebay pic.
Ours isn't the most fantabulous enclosure but the boys really dig it. I have a link in my sig to pictures and the whole story of when Ron and I were preparing for the boys (click the numbers on the bottom of the page).
The only thing I've done differently since I put the page up was their wheel, I got them a much bigger one and I made a different pouch for them to sleep in that hangs in the front right corner. The measurements inside the enclosure are 4.5' wide x a little over 3' tall x 2' deep.

Here are my cages - I love them, they are great quality and all (powder coated wrought iron) but I'm shooting to get into something quite a bit larger within the next year. I won't substitue quality for space though, don't want my babies getting hurt! And these are just so well made!

Here is the one that I just finished. It wasn't quite finished in this picture. I bought everything at home depot for about $60 and it is a little over 5' tallx3'x3'. The whole front piece is the door, and I can fit inside. I also made a pull out tray for the bottom(not shown in the pic) out of the pvc, the hardware cloth and a nylon sheet over that. My guys love all that room, but I have blisters on my hands from all of the zip ties! LOL

Ok I don't think my cage is anything special especially since it has had to change due to Banshee's likes and to me doesn't have nearly enough toys compared to others. I'll have to get some updated pictures.....cause we changed it again just yesterday and some more toys came in today, but here is the pictures I have of it. http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery/1stCage It's the same cage as SugarySweet and kitsune from eBay.
