Rest In Peace My Little baby boy(joey)
I dont know how to start but today this afternoon January-09-03,i found on Bandy's(male)and BB's(female) cage a baby joey laying down at the bottom of the cage, this could happend in the middle of the early morning because when i pick up the baby joey was kinda cold,i soon carry the baby joey(Wich i found out that it was a baby male)in my hands to warm him up and i could see his heart pounding thru his clear skin(Pinkish),then 5 minutes went by when i saw that his heart has stoped,it was very sad because he was waiting for me all this time at the bottom of the cage for his last moments to be with me in my own warm hands.Only Mamma knows why she put him out of their nest, she still has one baby joey with her inside her pouch. This will be her second litter whichs she knows very well on how to take very good care on her own baby joeys,as pappa glider(Bandy)does the samething to their baby joeys.I held mamma glider(BB)for awhile and i started to talk to her about her baby joey that left out of the nest, then she suddenly looked right straight at my eyes with a sad sad,i know she was trying to say to me that i could understand. As i aslo was talking to Pappa glider(Bandy) about his baby boy.Iam kinda sad and happy at the same time because i know that this baby boy (joey) is now in good hands up their with other baby joeys,i knew that sooner or later this was going to happend to me.As i aslo lost this other baby joey from Nanuk(Mamma first time)awhile back ago but in this case she ate her own baby joey and i didn't get the chance to see if it was a male or female.I myself has been prepared for this kind of things that mother nature does to them,we all have to be strong for this and knowing that it is very sad to see with our own eyes the things that happend to our baby joeys.I recomend every glider lover to be prepared for this kind of situation.i have add few pictures that i took this afternoon of my baby boy that crossed the rainbow.I suggest that this pictures are strongly sad to see(Warning this pictures will sadden the eye of the viewer)the reason i put this photos is for every glider owner to see how baby joeys really looks when their inside of mamma pouch and suddenly comes out(Rejected By Female) on an early stage and to learn more about them.I had the chance to observe every little thing on how the baby joey really looks like and their was nothing bad on him,he was complety normal(no Body Defections at all ),I guess mamma knew that this baby joey would probably not be such fine from his head or could be for other kind of reason,i will keep yall inform about her other baby joey(not knowing the baby joey sex yet)that she's carrying with her inside her pouch.I bury his little body this afternoon my (little baby joey) in my back yard.
PS:I hope i dont cause any harm or upsetting for adding this pictures of my baby boy(joey),this story is just to prepared you in case it would happend to any body who are expecting to have baby joeys. The only bad thing about it was, that it was to late for me to rescue this poor little baby joey, because this occured like around 4 or 5 am and didn't get a chance for him to survive, and also didn't get a chance for me to feed him,he was just only wating for me that afternoon to be hold in my warm hands(he died in my hands) for the last moments that he lived.

Gliderus...I'm sooo very sorry to hear that you had to go through that, but it just might have saved you from going through something even worse...With my trio, I've had seven successful joeys out of a total of eight ...When Sassie & Cassie had their first litters of twins only four days apart, I was thrilled...However, when Sassie's joeys were about two wks. OOP, I began noticing "nicks" on them ...Sammie had one on his nose, but his brother had several on his head...I treated them with antibiotic cream...Then about a week later when I pulled them out to check their healing process, which I did every day, the one baby had almost the entire top of his skull chewed off, but he was still alive!...I was very much tramatized by this, and I had to euthanize him ...I was sooo worried that this might happen to Sammie, and had to worry everyday that I might find him in the same condition ...Thankfully, he made it...Because of this,I was seriously thinking of parting with Cassie & "JJ", & just keep Sassie & her son, Sammie, as I just couldn't bear the thought of having more babies & something like this happening again...Tazgirl really helped me get through all the trama, and was willing to take them (Cassie & "JJ") and provide a good home...She was the ONLY one who I would have even considered, knowing the care she gives her gliders...However, the thought of parting with them also proved to be very tramatic, and I was actually sick to my stomach for approx. five days, just thinking about it, so I had to back out, and tell Tazzy I couldn't go through with it...I sure hated breaking my word and disappointing her...Needless to say, she was very understanding...Anyway, at first, I thought that maybe the babies had tried to nurse off the wrong mother, and that's why it happened...To make a long story short, both my girls did have babies a second time without problems, and Cassie just had twins without problems...So, I think it all boiled down to nature, and the parents disposing of a defective joey...He did have a different look about him, anyway, so I guess the gliders knew best...Sure hope your other baby does well for you...Keep us posted...

Sassie, Cassie, "JJ", Sammie, Chippie & Opie & twin joeys 19 days OOP

Gliderus - thanks for sharing your sad story. I'm sorry for what you went through and the little boy too! Mother Nature can seem so cruel sometimes.... I guess She knows best however.

I don't have the heart to look at the pic - enough sadness the last day or 2 for me. Best wishes for your other joey!!

I'm very sorry that you are going threw this pain of loosing that baby boy. I know how it feels to loose a glider. I was so upset about my Joey dieing for about a month, untill I started to see things a better way.
All of our glider angels are taking care of each other living in one big happy colony. That's the way that I look at it.
I pray that your heart heals with time.

GlÎÐ뮵§ :I am so sorry for the loss of your little joey. It is so hard to lose a glider no matter what their age is but when it's a tiny joey, it seems even more devastating. However, you gave him the greatest gift you ever could have in his final moments: your love.

Rikki,

I am so sorry that you had to lose a joey. At any age it must be hard. I hope that all goes well with the other joey.

So sorry that your little one died. I have pics of a joey that tiny too. They are posted in the gallery under Tager's joey. She was small like your little boy and lived for 2 days. We tried everything but she was just too little.
I am sure that the other joey will be fine. There must have been something wrong for mommy to have to abandon him that way. Nature knows what she is doing, and so does BB.
Take care

Lori

I would like to say Thank You for everyone that responded to this post, yall are so sweet and giving me strength.

Latest on BB(female):I think she might ate her second joey.I carried her last night and i didnt see no peanut size or felt the baby joey,i even check her nest and put in some new clothe in her boxes but i didn't find no baby in the boxes, but dont yall think if she could of ate her own baby joey their would be blood(drops)in the cloth!!.unless she's hiding her joey way back,(i hope so),and like i said before ,she knows how to take care of her own babies joeys same as her mate(bandy, male)she has had joeys before.but theirs a reason behind this, that she knows why shes doing this with her own joeys. I will let yall know as something comes up.Thank You.

I am so sorry Rikky...

Unfortunately I can say that I now know what it feels like to lose your baby...and that is not a feeling I would want anyone to have to go through. We will all hope and pray that the next time around these gliders will be better parents. My Kylie will take care of those babies for you...

Gliderxo,

I'm sorry, i know exactly how you feel, cause today i have lost a babygirl, looking just like that, and i found her itp with mom, and she looked helpless, and was getting cold. Abby looked like she didn't know what to do, but by the same token, i felt she had rejected her.

I tried feeding her after warming her up., and she lived inside my bra for several hours before she passed. She really seemed to want to live, but it was a lost battle cause she was at least 2 weeks early oop.

If you wish to take a look, see this Link

It's the 3rd photo in the 4th row.
