Okay so I saw the vet today and asked about the Rescue Remedy and the clematis being toxic. He told me that it (RR) in not toxic beause it is only the essence, (they float the flowers in water) not any of the actual plant. In it's full strength it woud be toxic but the RR is fine. He has been using it for years and never has had a problem. He studies an practices homeopathic medicine and said that many of the herbals have stuff in them that is toxic in high doses, but that is why they work.

My boy's fur has grown back, so I stopped giving him the RR anyway, but I trust my vet and I don't think he would be wrong about something like this.

Update time for Boo Boo and BJ.
Last night was their 1st unsupervised night together in their glider room since the last episode and the antibiotics. BJ is all healed up once again and what I did was take their individual houses away and put one larger one for the both of them to share during the evening, outside of both of their cages. I let them have the roam of the room all night then returned them to their separate cages with their usual beds this morning and they were happy to scurry inside their own beds and that was that. No damage done to to BJ's neck. This was the happiest morning I have had in a long time. I will continue this routine for a while and hope for the best.
The damage was done last time during the day when they woke and groomed, on like the 4th day together.
Boo-Boo turned 8 this past Wednesday and fortunately I still had mealies left and he had some extra!!!
Here's hoping, and holding my breath during the night. I could not help but go in and check on them everytime I woke up last night.
Thanks everyone thanks

Pat

I just wanted to add a picture to show BJ's neck and how it has healed. This is as good as it is going to get. Last night was another successful night together for the boys thumb thumb thumb

They are still being separated during the day and seem content to just go into their individual cages in the morning, to their beds, and go to sleep after a night out on the town!!!

Tonight will be their 5th night together and so far so good!!!! I think they are loving being back together again and being out of their cages all night romping around the room.
jump jump clap jump jump
They are still separated during the day but I will try to put them together all the time in a couple of days.

It has been a LONG haul agree

Thanks Nari, and everyone else thanks
Last night made a week of nights together. Everything is going well. Today I have left them sleep together and here's hoping that this is the end of any separation.
I have left 2 beds in the one cage they decided to sleep in in case one of them should want its own sleeping area at anytime.

I will let you all know!

Weeeeelllll....
They spent one day sleeping together (yesterday) and when I took them out in the early evening to "Check The Neck" I could tell that Boo-Boo had been grooming at BJ's neck again. Not too bad but a little irritated.
worried confused crazy shakehead

I decided to just let them play the night together in their room and hope for the best in the morning. No more damage was done overnight but I did have them sleep in their separate cages again today. I will just continue that routine again. At least they have all night to play together, providing everything goes like last night and Boo finds other things to do in the room bseides groom on BJ's neck. I might have to rename Boo Boo Dracula roflmao
Hey, I have to find some humor in this tounge
The saga continues. I will get with the vet again. The next step would be a biopsy of BJ's neck.

Thanks for "Tuning IN" to these little guys thanks

Glad I am not the only one with a "saga" wink

That is weird, weird, weird......................a mystery like my SMer..................................I hope we both find out some how, some way what is REALLY going on!!!

Until then we will just have to hang in there and keep paying vet bills! And keep our babies safe!!

Well here we are again confused .
Boo Boo and BJ say hello wave
The togetherness didn't last too long as Boo went back at BJ's neck. I had them playing together at night out of their cages but kept them separated during the day for a full week. Their individual cages remained open all night so if they wanted to go in at any time they could and they usually picked one that they went in together and into their "house".
OK! This looks promising!!! So I put them together full time and sure enough upon "Neck Inspection" during the day I could see that Boo had been working at BJ's neck again in the same exact spot. No too much damage though, just pretty irritated.
SOOOOOOO.....off to yet another "New" vet this morning. She was very nice but admittedly did not see a lot of Sugar Gliders. She did seem to think that it is more behavioral than anything else and felt that a biopsy (was the last suggestion by another vet) was unnecessary.
So here is what she recommended and I told her I would come to the forum and put it out there for feedback. She felt that if I put cayenne pepper in some neosporin and put it on the area that Boo grooms it would be distasteful enough to keep him away. The site has no breaks in the skin. My concern that I expressed to her is any possible toxicity to a glider that might ingest any of this and also skin irritation to BJ. She agreed but did not know either???? So Maybe if cayenne pepper is not recommended there would be something not toxic, but very distasteful that could be applied in the same way. I am just grasping at straws here folks. I am at my wits end. I DO NOT want to separate these guys permanently. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

Pat, Boo-Boo, and BJ

Suz told me about something to try to use on Timmy that is made to help healing, but a good side effect is it tastes nasty and it makes gliders leave themselves alone. PM her as I can't find the post with the name in it right now. But it may work for these two (to keep little Boo Boo away and perhaps it will break his 'habit' as well for good). I'm sorry you are yet on this path again. I know all too well the frustration you must be feeling! Prayers going out!

There is a topical ointment or spray that you can get from any of your vets. It's called Collastat Spray/Cream. It is used as a post surgical topical dressing to keep animals from licking their wounds. It is safe for sugar gliders.

Can you only get it from the vet or is it available online somewhere?

You can order it from here, but most vets will carry it too. I believe Sugarbaby (Karen Milas) sells it also.

Hi everyone wave
Just to report some GREAT news Boo Boo and BJ are now, after about 9 months of seperation and supervised playtime, back together again for well over a week now and are doing great together. Believe me it is so hard to believe that this is the end after so long but each day that passes I am in heaven!!!! it has been very stressfull for me and for them. I have no idae as to why Boo Boo is finally not over grooming BJ's neck but I am oh so grateful. Please keep everything crossed for up that this is over with now.
I will keep posting pictures and video of the boys. BJ is 7 next month!!!
