My WFB Jade and My other WFB Phoenix are both from a WFB X Normal breeding. Would that make them 1st or 2nd Generation WFBs? Also when they finnaly get to have joeys what generation will their babies be considered?

Ok
They would be first generation. If they are both WFB's their babies would be 2nd generation

A first generation WFB is produced when you breed a WFB to a normal and produce a WFB.

A second generation WFB is produced when you breed 2 first generation WFB's together and get a WFB.

A third generation WFB is produced when you breed 2 second generation WFB's together...

Bringing this topic up again, what is the percentage of WFB that are produced if you have a WFB and Cinnamon or Normal pair?

Also, when you get a WFB in a litter as well as a normal, is the normal usually darker in coloration, possibly making it a BB?

Thanks,

Luis

Ok. My new WFB is a 3rd generation. I made a mistake, because I originally thought that Phoenix was a WFB to Normal bred WFB. But he is a third generation. So Jade is a first generation and Phoenix is a Third generation. So what generation will their babies be. Also what is the correct amount will this Generation of WFB run for?

Your females will be 2nd generation and your males will be 4th generation.
The prices varies on the 2nd generation I would say 500.00
On 4th generation usually around 800.00

Hope this helps and hope I understood your post...ha ha

They are paired together right now? So due to this type of breeding. Now whats the percentage of babies that will be WFB?

If they are both wfb you will have wfb babies just different generation.

I would say that they'd be second generation. I don't even know if that would be correct, but it really doesn't matter that much what generation they are.

I'd be more concerned with what traits you are hoping to breed in and keep, ie. more blonde, less markings etc. If you have a fourth generation wf and it comes out a wf grey, I'd personally pay less for it than I would for a first gen that was extremely blonde, but that's only my personal preference.

You could have in theory seven generations of wf and the eighth generation joeys quite possibly won't be any more blonde than the previous generation if you didn't select for the blonde trait in the preceding breedings. In my opinion, when dealing with gliders of color, the amount of generations isn't that largely important if careful mate selection hasn't been a part of the breedings.

It is theorized that the more generations of wf a glider has in it's background, the greater the percentage of wf offspring that glider will have. It makes sense to me, but it's not yet that thoroughly tested of a theory to my knowledge.

I don't get how they would go from 4th generattion down to 2nd? Also my WFB are not WFG. I am breeding like you said to produce less markings around the eyes. I hope to produce a completely white face with these two. There eye circles are extremely light.

If you breed a first generation WFB to a third generation WFB, you will get second generation WFB's...

As far as breeding for a totally white face, what do you mean? If you mean totally absent of eye markings, I would strongly recommend mixing in "normal" colored lines with almost no eye circles. I think Priscilla Price has a few gliders for sale that are like that...

Well, things can get complicated when you pair up different generations. If you pair a first generation with a normal, you get another 1st generation and not a 2nd generation. To be a 4th generation, the joey would have to have 2 wf parents, 4 wf grandparents and 8 wf great grandparents. Since their joey would not have all that wf in its lineage, it could not be considered a 4th generation. If you have a 3rd generation with a 1st generation, their joeys would be a 2nd generation. That would mean that the father has 2 wf parents, and 4 wf grandparents and the mother has 1 wf parent. I do not see how the sex of the joey would effect what generation it is. To be a 4th generation, it has to have 3 generations of only wf lineage.
