I have a 1yr old glider who has a joey in pouch, during the day in the hanging pouch she has her joey out of the pouch and lets it stay there until she gets up to play in eat. When she goes out she stuff its back in pouch, to go play and run in her wheel. She keeps him clean and everything seems to be fine. But I was just wandering if this is normal. Oh and the baby is not oop yet. Thanks Patrick

Is the joey detached completely? Or just the joey's body hanging out and the head still in pouch?

If the joey is detached completely, then yes, they are oop even if mom stuffs them back inside.

As long as mom is taking care of them, even with the bodies hanging out, everything is fine. It could be more comfortable for mom to have them out of the pouch. sounds like it won't be long before they are completely detached.

I would be a little on the watchfull side if the joey is not fully developed. Usually I have found that the joeys hanging out are just about ready to come out of pouch. She may just be a relaxed mom and more laid back.

MY joeys started hanging out all the way when they were eight weeks IP and completely pink, they have hair now and a black stripe, they don't both fit in the pouch anymore and are about 62 days IP.

the only reason I ask is because some one said since she on the small said maybe she has a small pouch and a some point the mom will be more comfortable with the joey out. This is just a thought.

My Mercedes is a tiny glider... she only has one joey in pouch. But the baby (a girl)hangs out of pouch unless mom is playing around the cage. The baby is still pink and has very transparent skin. Mom's just so small but the baby is doing great, everyone keeps her warm.
