ok... I got my sugar glider probably about 6-7 years ago at a pet store, and back then they told me to feed it ferret food with the snake stuff and some fresh fruit. so thats what I did. BIG HUGE mistake, but I didn't know at the time I was in the wrong or I would have changed it, and changed it fast. But about 2 months ago I got him a hanging tunnel to play with and he got his foot tangled in it and had to have it cut off. Which just started a down fall for him. he got depressed and he didn't want to eat, which with my food was causing him not to get what he needed. when it got really bad I stayed up two night with him trying to force feed him the food that he DID need. When I took him to the vet in the morning they said that they would try their hardest, but about 1 he had past away. the vet said that the diet was a big cause in every thing that happened and that she was surprised he lived that long. It was so horribly I cried and cried. I have really learned an important lession which I wish I had know a lot early. but I am going to start fresh as soon as I get a new glider. Sweetangel...
I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you really loved him a lot, and gave him the best life possible while he was here. I am sorry that you had to learn the importance of a glider's diet in such a horrible way. I hope you can find a new baby to help take away some of the pain of Czar's passing. Remember all the love the two of you shared for each other. Glider hugs...

Sweetangel,
i'm soo sorry for your loss.
Nothing hurts more than the realization that we somehow failed our beloved pet, even though it was totally unintentional.
The difference to ignorance is, that you now know better, and will improve what you know to be wrong, and that alone will put you on to a much better start with a new glider.
I truly believe that if you had known better you would have done better. I know it doesn't ease your pain at the moment, but know that we all are here for you...

Sweetangel - Sorry for the loss of your beloved Czar I hope the following will be of comfort to you as is always is to me:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I dont know why I read this forum. I swear it makess me bawl every time I do. In all seriousness I know I do read it so I can learn from other's mistakes and hopefully they won't happen to me. That rainbow bridge story is so sad. I'm so sorry to hear about Czar. Just know he is in a better place, and he knew love while you had him which is the most important thing.
