I thought it was ok to feed them the petals also, as some people were talking about putting the whole flower in their cage. I know humans can eat them- not that that means they are safe for gliders, but i am pretty sure they are.

The whole flower - just stick it in there & watch em go nuts! Mine like the yellow centers the best!

Mums. Any flower with the tubular petals, are what my babies love best though they go after any flower I put in. It's great to watch.

Be careful that the flowers you are giving are on the safe plant list! I gave my gliders some roses last night and they absolutely went nuts! I have never seen them so excited about anything before. What a wonderful treat for them. I am going to be planting more rose bushes now just so that they can have lots and lots all summer!

I know you all know this, and I'm just being a nuisance, but always make sure that the roses or rose bushes have not been sprayed with any kinds of chemicals that are harmful to the gliders. Some people spray the roses with chemicals to keep the aphids away.......Just an FYI

The only thing mine ever get sprayed with is dishsoap water. And I always rinse them before feeding. They can eat the aphids anyways!

So, can I feed them the hibiscus in the back yard? We never spray them with anything.

Ooooh rose petals!
We love our rose petals around here!
(Some pics in a post awhile back, of my Amy and her roses. Bloomin' Amy Sorry, had to share... )

Like mentioned, please make sure you KNOW where your roses (flowers/plants) come from. I do like Gina, and only use dishsoap water as a bug spray... wash the flowers really well, and voila'! Happy little Gliders.

Hibiscus! Oh my word! Yup, another favorite around here.
I have never seen or heard a happier little being, than the day I put a plastic bowl in the cage with a big hibiscus flower, some eucalyptus leaves, and roses.

I will try it as soon as Spandex gets a clean bill of health from the vet tomorrow. And if his mommy lives through what ever this is.

Bottlebrush flowers are another they enjoy!!

But I have to say, if it were not for Hope (telling me about the roses long ago) and Pockets for sharing with some other plants and flowers, my gliders would still be deprived...but now that I know, we have a nice little flower garden growing in our yard!! And I have very happy gliders

Bottlebrush?! Those are EVERYWHERE in FL! Hmm...but where to find anything organic is the question. Yay...another new treat! Peggy, you've been holding out on me. I'm gonna have to have a chat with you.

The roses were a hit here. They ate the center and the hips but left the petals in their chin house.
