They come OOP with a pouch, although it may be hard to see at first. If they are born with one, I'm not sure. They are very underdeveloped when born, so I would believe the pouch develops on female gliders while they are still in their mother's pouch. For males, many can mate earlier than 8 months. My male mated and produced joeys at about 4 months, and he barely has a bald spot. Some develop the bald spot early, some late.

Females are born with their pouch . As for males I have heard it both ways. I had a 5 month old male (he just barely had his bald spot) in with a older female (1 1/2 yrs old) and he fathered 2 joeys and hasn't stopped since. *L* . But I also had a male that started to get his at about 12 WKS OOP . So I'm not toldly sure which would be true . I'm not sure if anyone really knows for sure .

Sometimes after they are fixed they can get or keep their bald spot, but usually they don't.
