This 2001 Academic Press paper, by a Stanford University School of Medicine researcher, was originally posted by GC user Mage back in 2003, the thread is in the archives, but the link to the paper (for ease) is here: Coat Color Mutation.

The principles, outlined in the paper, of mammal pigmentation and coat color mutation can be broadly applied to glider genetics, and is written with much more detail than I included in my previous posts on the subject.
