Ukyo is definitely a chewer.. I am planning on making some wooden toys (I found some parts made from safe woods) but want to make sure what I string them on is also safe and won't cause a problem... I don't want them chewing through whatever it is... am I better off with leather lacing, paulie cord, sating ribbon, satin rope, or what?? I'm looking at ordering a monster thing of pony beads to cover the length of the string anyway, but if some gets left exposed by accident or due to their chewing I don't want them falling beause they got to the rope and a few minutes of chewing went through it! Thanks in advance!

IMO, chewers can get through anything <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />. I have always been concerned with small wooden accessories, because of the possibility of sliver's in the mouth. Remote possibility though. Probably the really, really hard plastic beads, etc., would be the best. I use lanyard lacing for alot of toys, but if exposed, they can chew through it too. Enjoy your toymaking, and just get creative! Karin

I was planning on using a lot of plastic beads, but a few wooden ones so she will have something to chew on, hopefully other then the perches, though I am also going to put manzanita perches with holes filled with acacia gum in there for her too...

Personally, I would just use the plastic toys or beads. I wouldnt give wooden toys for the fact of slivering the wood. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frostyangel.gif" alt="" />
