I am new to glider ownership. I just got my 1st on July 2nd. My question is, how do I get her out of her sleeping pouch into her bonding bag during the day w/o making her angry or stressing her out? I need to start the bonding process here in the next few days.

mine have a sleeping pouch that has clips on it, so i just take the whole bag and clip it to my shirt! that way they aren't disturbed at all!

Congrats on your new furry little family member!
I agree... sometimes it works really well to just have a pouch that you can tie or clip in the cage that you can just take out and wear... that way you dont have to worry about switching pouches to 'wear' them.

one of my gliders will just crawl into the bonding pouch if i put it infront of the cage pouch. It doesnt stress them out a lot if you just pick them out of a pouch and put them into a new one.

I need a bonding bag/cage pouch that I can take out that will stay closed. I don't want her escaping while trying to bond during the day. I have a sissy pouch already. The problem is getting her into the sissy w/o making her upset.

Erin, if your cage pouch isn't to big, try just putting her, cage pouch and all, into the sissy pouch until she gets the hang of it. Or you can gently turn her cage pouch inside out, slowly, so she will crawl into the sissy. She might crab a bit but a mealie reward will quickly calm her down again.

you can use a onding bag with a drawstring and use it for a cage pouch too, and it closes.

Teri, there is a danger with doing that. Draw string bonding pouches for cage pouches runs the risk of closing and trapping the gliders inside during the night. Please be very careful of this potential hazzard if you are going to use a drawstring pouch for a cage pouch.

I personally just hung the sissy pouch up in the cage when I was working with spike. the flap can be put on the inside of the pouch to cover the zipper part and the clips attach right on the side of the cage, in the morning I would take it out of the cage, give him a treat, close the pouch up and put it on! Voila, he went from a never been handled grouchy glider to a lover in four days.

I have Savanna in her sissy pouch right now for the 1st time during the day since I got her 6 days ago. She did real good getting her out of the cage in it and attaching it to the straps with no crabbing. She crabbed after I had her on and when I looked at her and she heard my voice. How does carrying them around with you cause them to bond? She crabs at my voice and face. Is there anything in particular I should be doing while she is in her sissy?

The sound of your voice and the smell of you are what she will bond with. It will take some time and consistancy in you carrying her, but she will soon realize that you are her safety zone and will not let anything hurt her. With the sissy pouch, they dont swing all over the place and she gets used to your movements, your voice, and everything else. When you have her in her sissy and on you, just talk softly to her the first couple days with it shut and rub gently on the outside of the pouch. Before long you will have a really good bond.

Savanna is doing great in her sissy pouch today. No crabbing at all. She is making a popping noise. Is this any sound in particular? Also, how long should I wear her each day? This is only the 2nd day of having her in her sissy. Thanks.

the popping noise is what is called clicking!!

VERY GOOD sign!

As far as how long you should wear her each day, as long as you can. The longer the better. sounds like things are coming along great for you.

Isnt the sissy pouch the BEST!!
