When I was in college, my dorm room thermostat was broken and would blast hot air all day long. My mom bought me some giant magnets made for covering registers. They worked. I think you get them at Home Depot or Walmart. I'm sure you wouldn't want your register covered all the time, but you could cover it whenever you let your gliders roam free.
Just an idea. Maybe not the best. The magnets would get pretty hot when they were covering the register. Probably hot enough to burn a glider.

you can purchase LINT vent covers to go over or under the registers...or you can use register filters that go under the registers. They really help keep the house less dusty too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Get thre metal screening and wrap the vent cover with it. It may not be pretty but it's effective.

Ok..I'm thinking maybe hardcloth then I will have to wrap the edges with material or something. It can be very sharp. Window screens would probably catch on the glider's nails. These registers are the kind that fit into the wall. The *big* ones with the big holes. Thanks .. this site is awesome.
