I've seen cage covers on a couple glider websights, what are they actually for (besides the obvious!)? If I wanted to make my own, what is the best fabric to use? [:"red"] [/]

i just have a towel over the top of my cage just so the sun doesn't hit their sleeping pouch directly when they are trying to sleep during the day...they do need to see some light though or they will get all off schedule.

Polar Fleece or even a nice quality bed sheet works great. I think for the money, buying a bed sheet works the best. You can seam it to make a custom fit or just drape it.

I have a towel on top of their cage to protect them from the cold air vent, and plastic sheets on the surrounding walls to protect from "flying projectiles"

Oh, be careful about using towels where they might be able to reach. They can get tangled in the loops of the terrycloth and loose a toe or foot or even their lives.

I currently have two sides of my glider's cage covered with fleece to protect my walls, however, the surronding carpet is nicely decorated with their food <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I am going to be moving into a new house soon and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to protect carpet??? Also, on that topic, how stressful will it be to my gliders when I do move and is there anything I can do to ease the process for them

You can place a small bath rug (or similar type of rug) on the floor on the side of the cage that does not have fleece on it. This will prevent things from getting on your carpet and then you can just shake it out and/or throw it in the washing machine.

I made a floor tray that fits under my stand. My cage is 18x18 wide. Lowes sells pre cut 24x24 squars of wood about 1/2 inch thick. I covered a peice with contact paper for easy cleaning and I bought a peice of wood trim and cut it to fit along the sides. So it basicly is a tray for the floor and it works great! I just spray the surface and wipe it clean.
