I know what a white faced blonde is, but what makes a WF a WFB? Is it that their fur is alot lighter(like the higher generation WFs)? Or do they have a creamy hue? I have seen many people say many different things and so I wanted to get to the bottom of it and hear from some of the "old time" breeders of WF/WFBs. Enlighten us. *pics are appreciated.

I have 9 white faced gliders. Out of those 9, there are 2 I would consider WFB's. Like blond haired humans, these gliders both have yellow/golden colored fur. When placed next to a gray glider or even another WF, there is a very obvious difference. Some of my other WF's vary in color/shade from almost white/silver gray with dilute markings to dark brown with black beauty markings (less the bar under her ear)...

See, I don't think mine has yellow or golden fur at all....Next to a gray she is VERY light and almost a pretty silvery color like my cat as opposed to the gray.

I agree with you 100% (except the cat part, I dont have one of those ) I dont see the yellow or golden fur that people talk about neither, but I know a lot of people think there is that color to them.

Sorry to be a spoil-sport, but should all this color talk really in the "Breeding and Babies" Forum?
Father of 6 Sugar Gliders (4 female, 2 male), 6 Inland Bearded Dragons (4 female, 2 male), 1 guinea pig (female), 1 female cat (DOB: 11/1/09), 1 female Sheltie dog (DOB: 5/13/10), 1 male Japanese Spitz dog (DOB: 7/4/11) and numerous goldfish.

Yeah, actually most color discussions take place in breeding and babies because of the genetics involved. If the mods/admin have a problem with the topic being here, they will move it to a place they see fit.

Why wouldn't it be in the "Breeding and Babies" forum? That is how you end up with colored gliders....LOL ANYWAY....I can definitely tell the difference between Princess and my gray females. It's a very obvious difference, but she looks very white to me and not creamy or yellow at all. http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r81/s...5-14-070012.jpg

Mine are like yours suggiemom. They're VERY light and the difference between them and my WF is HUGE: They have an orangish color on their faces, but I thought that was from them being sunkissed(they both are, but Gil is more sunkissed then Silvara): Here's my WF girl: She's WAY darker and isn't sunkissed. *Please post pics of your WFBs! I'm a very visual person(as you can see by all my pics, lol).

As far as I am concerned there is no difference in a WF and a wfb. someone just got lazy one time and forgot to put the "b" on the end of it. Sometimes I even forget to put the b or the g on it and just say, "white faced". Some wfb's are more gray and people would call them WFG, but I call them all WFB and would never advertise them any differently. The reason they are wfg or white faced gray is because someone put a black beauty with a blonde along the way or used a darker glider in order for the gray to pop out. In order for them to be more blonde you would have to use a blonder color glider like a buttercreme or champagne to whiten them up. Sometimes a red glider with a wfb will give you a more buttery blonde look. This is my opinion. I have owned wfb gliders for 6.5 years. I have seen people pair them with about anything and get an array of colors of wfb's. It is a term like kleenex, it is generic. Nicole, these little pictures on here do not show your gliders true colors. They are much lighter and prettier than those pictures, and definately more buttery. I have attached a baby picture of your Gil to show how beautiful he is. [size:20pt]Gil[/color]

Thanks for posting all the great info Sheila! I think of you as the "glider guru" when it comes to colored gliders. Thanks for posting the adorable pic of Gil too. I try not to bug him too much with the camera(not that he minds). You're right, that pic really shows his true color and Silvara is the same(her stripe is a teeny bit lighter). My camera either bleaches out the colors or makes em look too dark.

As far as I am concerned there is no difference in a WF and a wfb. someone just got lazy one time and forgot to put the "b" on the end of it. Sheila, I love you, but I disagree. I think people started leaving off the "b" when they realized the glider wasn't "blond", which the "b" stood for. WF= white faced. WFB=white faced blond. (Blond being the color of the coat.) To me, wfb was the term that was used when the wf gliders were first discovered. At that time, the gliders were actually blond. Blond was an actual color, like the yellowish hair color and you could have a blond glider that wasn't a wf. I had a couple gliders that I would consider true wfb: This is Simba: http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21803http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21805This is Nala: http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21728They both had beautiful, even, golden blond coats. No one could possibly look at them and wonder if they were wfb. There was no hint of gray on either of them. If you notice the baby with her, he is not blond. He is a very light, silvery gray, which often happens with the higher generation WFs. (He was a 3rd gen wf.) I myself have not noticed that their color "develops" as they mature, as Judie mentioned in another thread. Simba and Nala, even though both wfb, had gray joeys and blond joeys. The blond joeys had the golden color as soon as they came oop. I don't believe any of their gray joeys turned blond when they matured, even the wf ones. I think most gliders show their true color by the time they are 8 weeks oop. I do have a glider that was a "sunkissed" joey. By the time he was 8 weeks oop, though, he was a gorgeous, silvery gray. He lost the sunkissed color and it never came back, even 2 years later. Here are a few pictures of one of Simba & Nala's wfb joeys, with a sibling who is not a wf: http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21910http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21904http://www.glidercentral.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=21902Most gliders I see now are, to me, wf gray. I do not use the term wfb unless I feel the glider IS a wfb. You can have a wfb, wfg, wfc, wf mosaic, wf sunkissed, etc. Why use the term wfb to describe them if that is not the color they are? If you are not really sure of the color, but your glider is missing the bar under the ear, why not just call it a wf? At least then you are safe. There will always be a difference in opinion for some colors. Cinnamon, lion, buttercream, etc., are all in the eyes of the beholder. Gray is gray, whether it is light gray or dark gray. However, gray is NOT blond. I admit, to me it is a pet peeve to see wfb thrown around so much. Since so few of the gliders are actually blond, I wish people would just use the term wf. But, that is just my opinion.
