So I've been reading and from what I can tell opinions differ on when a joey is considered officially OOP.

So what is generally accepted?

One twin was left with papa on 4/30 evening while momma was out playing with the other IP still. That was the first time she left either one alone detached. Since then they have both (to my knowledge) remained attached and she has spent little time without them either stuffed back in or hanging from her belly. They both sorta fit in the pouch still, for the most part. But there isn't much additional room with them both fully IP. They spend most their time now OOP but still nusing nearly 100% of the time.

Some mommas will keep letting them in or shoving them back in till their ready for college. roflmao
I think if that happens then they use the rule of thumb when the eyes open count back ten.
I am sure there will be other opinions but that about the time line.

Yup, I have a momma who does this. Once she see's that I see they are oop she starts stuffing them back in again.....lol it's too funny.

Once they detached they are considered OOP. So if you saw one left with daddy while she was out playing/eating that would be the OOP date. party

I've read that twins can have different OOP dates. But I dont see them 24 hrs a day. Do does the same date apply for both twins? Or do I wait until I SEE the second one detached?

I would count them OOP on the same day. I'm sure you will see both babies out soon, usually if one has detached the other one probably has already been off too.
If it does take longer before you see the other baby out just watch him and ask yourself if the joeys seem the same age. Do their eyes open at the same time, are they the same size, do they have the same amount of fuzz?
All of our babies have come OOP the same day or possibly a day apart, I just figure I missed it when they were both out at the same time. They still stay with their mom most of the time at this young age.

They are about the same exact size, have the same amount of fuzz. They look to be the proper OOP age to me. I'll see if I can get momma to sit still enough for pictures.

**She doesn't like the camera... Its bigger than she is! lol

I'll get some pics this afternoon/Evening while she's still sleepy maybe, if I can get some then maybe you guys can help me determine if I can keep the 4/30 date as the OOP date.

I got to hold the little peanut that was with daddy for a little bit. What a little cutie! I love the little cry they make! I put her in my bra for only a minute or two and she quieted down right away. They are sooo sweet! I'll get pics of them too when I get a chance and they are detached. Which is the proper forum for those kinds of pictures? Talk and Travel?

A lot of breeders will count back 10 days from when they joey's eyes open, this makes it a little more consistent between moms that keep them longer and kick out early. wink

Okay, I posted pictures of the peanuts in Talk and Travel.

I've picked names too with help from my 4 year old! lol

The little tip is Chiquita

And the larger tip is Phoenix

Twin girls. They are such sweeties. Its so cute when they start to root for a nipple. I remember that from when my boy was a baby! lol They are so sweet when they are babies aren't they? smile

I had one do that to me and latched on to my finger and would not let go for 5 minutes. Not so sweet.
