Well..
I live in north of new orleans and have to evacuate my home for the hurricane. Problem is..... I don't have a small cage for the glider! For some reason an evacuation cage just didn't cross my mind.
I'll only need the glider to stay in it for one-two nights.. MAX. What kind of cage can I use? Can I just get a regular bird cage from a petstore? Im worried about types of wire and such..
HELP!! lol
Thanks Ashley

if only for a couple of nights, a bird cage will work. Better to have your glider/s in a small cage then in a hurricane!
Make sure the bar spacing is 1/2 inch or less. The wires should be coated and fine for your glider/s.
Please stay safe!

You can use like a finch cage from the store, or a small reptarium. Good luck!

I just wanted to say if you can't find a bird cage, use just an animal travel cage.Even a small one will be fine as long as you can take out your glider and let him run around a lot wherever you end up. In emergencies like these, your glider's safety comes first, then his comfort.

well I got a small cage but I think it will do. I can fit her wheel in it.. and a pouch.. I've only had her two weeks.. so I can't really let her out and exercise as we don't have a strong enough bond yet.. however she's young so she still likes to sleep a lot..even at night. I think she'll be fine with the wheel. Thanks for yalls advice. Ashley

Get a kiddie tent & have playtime in there - trust me, it will do wonders for your bond!

Even if she's not bonded with you, take her into a small room like the bathroom and let her run around while you supervise. Just bring in a licky treat so you can coax her back to you when you're done. I'm from Delray Beach so we didn't get it as bad as Miami, but it was still only a Category 1 for Miami and they got hit really hard. Be safe! Welcome to hurricane season! And I'm glad your glider has a good mommy who is so concerned for her well-being.

I'll pick up some babyfood and gator aid tomorrow.. got the water, got the small cage
I had to evacuate my dogs once last year...ended up a false alarm, but they are all bathed and ready to leave again in the am tomorrow!
Thanks for the info! Ashley

Just to let you know you can always buy a reptarium and check out their website. They are fairly cheap and would be perfect for evacuations since they fold up flat and can just pop in the car with you.
Sorry to hear you have to deal with the hurricane, stay safe!!!

Leave NOW, and get a cage down the road. It's daytime, and she should sleep for several hours. You're in my prayers. I was just in Nawlins 3 weeks ago and fell in love with the place. I am praying hard that something positive happens quickly.

Hey, if you can get to a computer, if you need someone to glidersit, if your house is gone or whatever, let me know, I will do it. I bet Mary and Charlie would, too, and they are in Houston. I can ask if you want. I don't mind helping you out if you need it. If you need a cage or something, let me know that, too.

I hope Ashley and her baby is ok. I have a friend that lives in New Orleans that evacuated with over 150 gliders. I haven't been able to get in touch with her since Sunday. I'm worried about all of you guys. We got hit here in Memphis with part of the storm last night. Half of the city is without power, trees are down everywhere, and metal storage buildings just didn't stand a chance. I passed a few this morning that rested upon street signs when it was done. They called off like 15 schools in the area. We aren't even on the coast and we got hit pretty good.......I can't imagine you guys on the coast. I hope you guys are ok and my prayers are with you!!!!
