I have a question about toys and I see so much stuff in the fourms. My glider seems to be chewing like crazy. I bought these fake vines to add in his cage and the chewed righit through them so I took them out and I have a hemp ladder with wooden dowels on it and he's chewed a lot of the rope off. What is a good toy that he can chew that is safe? He's getting so much more active at night now. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/gliderangel.gif" alt="" />

Yikes! I don't know about that. Mine only chew if I put something in there that they can chew. How old is he? It may be a teething type activitiy, then go away.

we put wood in for them, including manzanita branches with holes drilled in them filled with acacia gum and juice for them to pull out.. and lots of hard plastic things that it won't hurt for them to chew on.. adn some lighter wood bird toys that it won't hurt them to ingest if need be...

Apple tree branches, Elm branches. Both clean. My gliders LOVE to strip the bark off them.

That is a great idea about the wood with the acia gum in it and I bought in a coconut toy today that is a manazinta branch with a coconut cup on the end of it and I got some wood for him to chew. Not sure why he's chewing but he'll dig the bedding from the bottom of his wire cage and chew on it and I don't have a heavy covering of it. Really strange maybe he is just teething or something.

I added bee pollen this time to the acacia gum/juice mix this time- they devoured it.. and loved it... I mix it so its kinda gummy, syringe it into the holes and let air dry a bit before putting in the cage... if its hard they still get it out, if its soft its gone almost instantly.. I have a branch bill drilled hole sin all sides of so by the time I fill it all some is hard and some is soft...

Don't use anything with hemp!!!! Marijuana is a poisons plant for gliders!!!! exspecially if he is chewing. I have heard to use unflavored natural dog bones for chewing. Don't use lamb or pig bones though, to fatty.

There's no THC in Hemp (the thing in pot that makes you high), so i can't imagine that it would be dangerous, unless you are thinking of something else in it...

I have some sort of bird toy that looks like an abicus, you know with the things that slide on the bars? It's made out of raw hide. I'm assuming that's safe to chew. They seem to like it. Does anyone know?

no idea on the rawhide, but as to the branches- in the bird aisle at the pet store for manzanita.. or you can use pesticide free wood of safe varieties- apple, etc.
