I am confused. I have had sugar gliders for about a year now and learned the hard way about the males bald spot when we had a baby Dec 23, 2007.
My questions through, I had two males housed together, they both had the obvious bald spot in the same location on their heads. Well last night my daughter came to notice the one lost his spot...is this common? Neither are neutered.
Thank You

From what I've read, yes it is normal. One of the males being dominant, the other one will see a change in his hormone balance and as a consequence, his spot will fade out.

In the same way, only the dominant male in a gorilla family has a white back...

I have one male (intact) who sometimes you can hardly see his bald spot, but other times when he's been marking up his cage and/or mate, it appears huge wink

Is it gone all together, or just seems to be filling in?

My male's bald spot is only really apparent when he's been marking stuff or when his mate is in heat(then he goes mark-crazy, lol). Other times it almost looks like he doesn't even have one.

On a side note, I highly recommend that you get one or both of your boys neutered if they are living together.

Yep, completely normal. I have known several intact male pairs with one male barely having a bald spot compared to the other and is the more docile of the pair. thumb

If we never loved, then maybe we would never feel pain. Love anyway. It's worth it.

I have two boys that have lived together since they were born, about 2 1/2 years (they're brothers), one is dominant. They've never fought or squabbled at all in the time they've been together. I guess maybe I've been lucky.
