Albino/Cremino paired with Leucistic? #563980

In the past, there has been a lot of fuss made about pairing leus with leus, which I understand because that requires a certain amount of inbreeding... But, what if somebody were to pair a non-inbred leu with a non-inbred albino or cremino? What are your thoughts on it this?

I, personally, don't see how any harm could come of it. Technically, it would be outbreeding them both, which is always considered a good thing.

I wonder if one of the genes would be more dominant though? If you paired 2 100% leu het/100% cremino hets, would you get more leus or more creminos? Or would you get a weird hybrid, like creamy leus or black-eyed creminos? I doubt that, but it would be interesting to know.

I was wondering about this last night. When I get to be a millionaire in the near future, I'll buy a cremino female and see how she likes Louie. grin dance

I think it is a great idea, who knows what colors would be made, if any. As mentioned you would be outbreeding which is always a plus! When my cr. hets prove out, then I may think about it!!!

I've been thinking long and hard about what I would like to pair my leu boys with and a cremino is like at the top of my list... I'm not sure that's what I'm going to go with, but I'm weighing my options. I am so curious about what they might produce.

I think I am going to pair a creamino to a mosaic one of these days.

Hum... I wonder if you could get a mosaic cremino... You can get WF creminos, so if the mosaic had the cremino gene, I think it would possible. Now that would be something to see.

I can't believe nobody has tried this before! If I had the money I would get a male cremino to put with my female leucistic! Somebody has to try it and see what happens! Please! Lol!

Priscilla and I believe that you can have mosaic creme-inos. WF and Mosaic genes produce the same way, so if you can see a WF on a creme-ino then why couldn't you see the mosaic. We are thinking it may just show up as diff. shades of cream on the body or like a creamy ringtail?!?!?! We currently have a white mosaic 50% cr. paired with a creme-ino, so we will see!!!!!

Isn't the leu line breed out far enought now that leu's with the proper/appropriate lineage could be put with each other?

Actually, most leus are pretty closely related. Most breeders are breeding more for color than the betterment of leu lines... Now that I've proved out my 50% het girl, I plan on neutering her mate and adding a normal male in with them to out breed her line some more. Not many breeders are doing things like that.
