well, last night was the first night on the bml diet. he didnt seem to like it at first, but it was all gone when I woke up this morning. i guess thats a good sign grin haha

he has a new cage coming in a few days as well. 36"x32"x21" with a 25" stand. not the biggest ever, but its still good sized, and he's been on his meds twice a day.

i literally have to pin him down on the bed and pry his mouth open with the syrenge to get him to take them haha but it's definitely worth it because it has made a noticeable difference in his appearance!

he's got some new little fuzz coming in around the edges of his bald spot and the swelling on his chest isnt as inflamed any more. he's put on a little weight as well and he looks much healthier for it! mlove

ugh, why does it seem like his progress is reversing itself? frown his chest was really swollen again last night and he's taken his eyedrops for the full perscribed time and his eye is still watering...

im really worried because im leaving in 4 days and only my mom will be here to take care of him.

i think he may be unhappy. I know his cage is too small. i knew that when i bought him and every day that i wait for his new big cage to come in, i feel more guilty about keeping him cooped up in there.

I thought maybe my leaving would be easier on him if i got him a friend, but im just a afraid that 4 days just isnt long enough to be sure that they'll be alright together...

idk, any advice? I have one more vet meeting for the day before I leave just to check up on him...

I suggest that you get him into see the vet ASAP. Reoccurring infections can become very serious.
Getting a cage mate for him now would be fruitless, first of all he is sick. Second, you will need to set up a 30 quarantine period for your new glider.
Please, have your mom register here so that if she has any questions taking care of your baby we can help.
I hope that you get your baby in soon, time is of the essence with them.

ugh why can't he just get better? frown every time i start to see an improvement, something else goes wrong with him. I think I bought the most unhealthy glider in the world. shakehead

his eye was almost clear, he gained a bunch of weight, he's on a good diet in a new cage and the hair on his head is growing back even!
but last night he wouldnt come out of his pouch at all. we thought maybe he was scared because he wasnt used to the new cage, but when my boyfriend pulled him out he was shuddering and his entire cheek on the same side as his watery eye was swollen!

we put him up to his water bowl and he drank for like 5 minutes! when he sees bright lights he usually tries to burrow deeper into his pouch, but he didnt. he just sat there and blinked at us with his big puffy cheek dunno

whats wrong with him? we thought maybe his eye was just getting worse or that we had maybe hurt his mouth with the syringe. we also gave him new medicine that morning in a large dose and thought he may have reacte badly to it :/

im just leaving tomorrow and i dont have time to take him to a vet!

It sounds like an abcess. He needs a vet. I'm sorry he/you are having so many issues. Please find a way to get him to a vet today (maybe someone can even take him for you.) Are you going on vacation? Who will be taking care of him? (You do know he can't be left completely alone overnight, right?)

well, im calling the vet to see what we can do, if not to get an over-the-phone consultation...my mother is taking care of him. they've been introduced and played together many times and ive given her instructions on taking care of him. i just hate to leave her with a sick glider who needs treatment ohwell but as ive already spent nearly a thousand dollars on plane tickets it's a little hard to go back on that now...
