Alright, so I've been doing the whole introduction thing for over a month and we seem to have made progress - minus the 8 days I was in the hospital. I've done the following: - Switching out blankies - Switching out pouches / sleeping spots - Switching out toys- Supervised playtimes in the Genji (although I admit not recently, again due to the neck/back operation and it's recovery) - In place of Genji time, we do playtime in EACHOTHER'S cages, which I wasn't sure would go over well, but it did...I sit right by the cages (I picked this so they're still in an enclosed environment since I can't move quickly enough to let them have free roam of my room), armed with blankies and ready to seperate should someone become territorial. Gizmo was a bit at first, but has since become more interested in rubbing up against Ruthie than chasing her. Here are our examples of progress: - No crabbing at eachother (an occasional hiss will come out, is that OK?) - They're interested in eachother, i.e. they follow eachother around eachother's cage and investigate eachother, sniff eachother out etc.... - They are presently sleeping in the same sleeping spot (and I hear clicking going on) - THANK THE GOOD LORD for Cheryl's Hidey Hole in Large, which gives both of them enough room to sleep in the same place, but still have their own space. OK everyone, what next...what's the next step? I'd love to put them in the same cage soon, but what are the last steps before I do that? Am I missing anything? I want to do this right. Eventually, it will be Giz's 5 ft. cage (the cage will be thoroughly washed down also) they end up in, with all new NEUTRAL stuff with a thing or two of their own with each of their scents on it for familiarity (blankies most like in the neutral pouches). How do I do this last part is basically what I'm asking??? HELP! They seem to have finally bonded, but I don't want to put them in the same cage and have someone get hurt. I won't be doing any of this anyway for maybe 2 weeks yet anyway as I want to wait for the Gift Exchange for brand new toys and the Gift List thingy where you buy for the next person on the list - that will give me more new studd other than the stuff I have already bought. OK, I need advice, I'll stop rambling.

ok - basically - my rule of thumb for intros is: Anything short of balling up is good!
Even crabbing - they need to define each other's boundaries. So - unless they are balling up ... it worked. You know how you sometimes bicker with someone you love? Well, gliders do that, too - but they only attack each other if things are B A D!!!
I'd say - it looks like it worked!!

Alden, thanks for your input, I figured you'd be one of the people to answer me lol, you're that good lol....
I just peeked in at them...I've been carrying that darn hidey hole around all day (I adore it, so does Giz, but it's 11 inches around alone I think and very tall lol) because now they've snuggled up with eachother and are actually sleeping cozied up together...do I let them wake up in the same cage tonight (Gizmo's) after washing some stuff and putting some new stuff in? Or do I wait for more new stuff? I'd really love them to be together already, I've wanted a friend for Giz for so long and it looks like this might be our go-point....what do you think?

I'd would just watch them. It is more stressful to keep seperating them (as long as they are not balling up). It took a couple of months of 'making noise' for Timmy and Gidget to finally settle down, but they never hurt each other. They look good and as long as you keep them near you so if there is a problem you can seperate them very quickly (like next to your bed) then I would suggest letting them be. Good luck!!

I kept a flashlight next to my bed and anytime I heard a noise, I would jump up and peek in ('what?' lol) They made a lot of noise, but never hurt each other. (I think they both wanted the bottom! lol)

I say stay with for a little bit when they first get up, then check on them. Otherwise, you're done!

sounds like you got it made! Whoo hoo! Just keep an eye on them for a few days to make sure they don't ball up in a fight, making gosh-awful noises and pulling at each other. You did such a good job, Jess! Jen

It's wonderful to read your success story. Two lone gliders now seem to be bonded and in love. Good job! You probably do not need to worry about new toys and pouches, especially you've been swapping them out and plan to put both in the one cage.
