I ran a search but didn't find anything in the last year. Since Bugsy got diarreah and was subsequently taken off the Clavamox, his stools are still runny and are green in color! Any idea why they are green? The stools are trying real hard to form a bit and I am watching him for dehydration but the green color is worrying me.

Have you contacted your vet? If the diarrhea continues, he faces the risk of dehydration. As for the color, has he been eating anything green? I've noticed that if they eat something colored, their feces turns the color of what they have eaten. But, take him to the vet!! You can also use some benebac to try and stop the diarrhea. Or Lactobacillus. Either one, benebac you can get at your local pet store. Please let us know how he's doing! Chey

No green foods - that's why I am so concerned. They have been greenish for several days now and I have no explanation. Yes, I have been in contact with the vet several times and am watching him closely for dehydration. He's s smart boy and drinking a lot of water. edit: I bought some Kaopectate but the vet advised me not to use it.......

Charlee, call your local pharmacy and see if they have the lactobacillus, it's live yogurt cultures. Or you can get Benebac from your local pet store, I would call around and locate it first. If you use the lactobacillus, you just put a little bit on their food. It doesn't take much. Then, store in the fridge or freezer, it will last you forever! One packet will more than get you thru this bout unless it's really bad! After the first use, fold the top down and you can keep that envelope, this stuff is expensive enough you won't want to waste a drop of it! Chey

Okay - I got a box (12- .04 oz. packets- just over $10) of LACTINEX Lactobacillus Granules Dietary Supplement - hope that's the same stuff you are talking about. I will sprinkle a few granules on his corn tonight (that way I KNOW he'll eat it) and then watch. How long does it take to have any affect and how many days feedings should I give it to him? I gathered only once - is that correct???

Charlee, sprinkle lightly, we don't want him constipated! You can always repeat if necessary! I hid it in the bml, so they didn't know it was there, if the corn works, great! After the first dose, watch and if he still has diarrhea, then you can give a second, etc, till it clears up, what this does is replaces the bad bacteria in his gut with good. Balances it out so to speak. So, it's not really a medicine. I will check back later on Chey

Thanks Chey - I talked to the vet (again) and she said I could use it up to 3 times daily. However, if not better within 24 hours go back to Flagyl. Oh boy - another trip to Dallas! BUT, I will make some calls tomorrow in an attempt to find a compounding pharmacy and she will call in the script. I can't believe it - 4 yrs with no problems and lately it seems problems are at every corner! Poor little guy........ We'll get through this!!!!

Charlee, runny AND green do not make a good combination. In all honesty, it sounds like something's still not right. Sometimes it takes more than one round of antibiotics to beat an infection or infestation. I hate to say this, because I know how much you've already been through, but if my glider had green, runny stools, I'd be camping on the vet's doorstep first thing in the morning. I really don't want to worry you -- I know how much you've been through. But this doesn't sound like diet to me. It sounds like something's still not okay. We love you and really don't want anything to be wrong. Please keep us posted.

Okay - this is what's going on now. I went and picked Bugsy up at lunch and he is still pooping green and it is still trying to form. I can't take it anymore - I called the vet again, after I found a pharmacy that will compound, and she is calling in Flagyl. I will pick it up after work and if no improvement by Friday - off to Dallas we go Sat. morning. His nose is darkening again & he is sneezing again. In the meantime, my house is still being renovated, I can't stay there (fumes) so I am living in 2 places, so to speak. I think I may crack any minute....... hwell:

(((((((((((((((((((Charlee))))))))))))))))))))) Boy, it's been pretty tough going! Hopefully the flagyl and the lactobacillus will help, the flagyl get rid of any bacteria that are making him ill and the lactobacillus the diarrhea! Good Luck, keep us up to date on how he is doing! Chey

Gosh, I wish I had an intelligent/informative answer to that queston! He seems ok - eating, drinking (a lot), running, etc. However, this AM - diarrhea again! His stools from last night look normal but today..... I'm hoping it was a one time thing today but he has not yet given me anymore to inspect! haha He is still taking Flagyl so I hope it's ridding that little boy of bad stuff!!

The diarreah was a one time thing - whew! His stools are looking normal again. I'm thankful for that and am just hoping the nose will get back to normal and all will be well!
