Hi everyone! I just got my new cage and I was wondering if I can put the cage in the garage? I park my car in there too it would be next to my dog cage at night i have small dogs, and I will have ceramic heat lamp during winter so they are nice and warm. Please advise. Thanks

I highly recommend against keeping a glider in the garage. Not only are the fumes from your vehicle a factor but they are also away from the family and interaction even when just in their cage. Also the fear of them interacting or eating with outside bugs that may have come into contact with pesticides.

It is very hard to regulate the temperature in the garage. During the day it can go to over 120 degrees in there or higher. At night, during the summer it may be okay, temperature wise, but the fumes from your car, lawn mower and anything else you store out there can kill a suggie. A lot of those gasses are heavier than air, so they will be near the floor where you can't smell them, but your suggie can, and it only takes a tiny bit to make him ill.
Suggies are very social animals, and if they are lone pets, and placed in an area with no interaction, they can become depressed and die from that, as well. If this is a pet you don't have time or room for, please reconsider having it. If you were just exploring options, don't take offense at what I said, I just don't want to see another glider become a rescue because someone didn't know.

I wouldn't think the garage would have proper air temp or ventilation for any pet to live in.

I would consider putting gliders in the garage to be a form of animal cruelty! Please don't do that!!

I kind of thought that is what you might be doing. I am so glad you asked and learned, so many don't, and learn the hard way! You will have a ball with your suggies! If you need anything, feel free to ask on any of the forums, or you can PM me. I am always willing to help! Welcome to GC!

I find it hard to even understand, why you get ANY Gliders and put them out of your home! "Put them in the garage with the other animals". How sad is that. . These are sweet loving little babies that deserve only the best you can give. Please don't put them away from you and your family. If you do, you may as well not even have them.

Time to close this post. It has answered and you have made up your mind.
Good choice too!
