I found a great deal on a flight cage that seems perfect for SG's, but the bar spacing is 5/8 as opposed to the normal 1/2 inch. Is this going to be too wide for a SG? Everything else seems great. It's six feet tall, powder coated, has a slide out pan, three perches, and a few big doors. If anyone can help me, that would be great. (For people who aren't measurement inclined, the difference in spacing is 1/8 inch, or about the size of a dull pencil point) Thank you!

Actually, I heard the minimum requirement was 5/8. As long as the spacing is too small for their head to fit through its good. What a great cage that is! I'm jealous! Have fun cleaning though . . . lol

I have heard that if you can fit your fingers through it, the spacing is too big. Have you tried to do that?

UHOH! If thats true about your fingers fitting through your cage bars, I might be in trouble!! Um, what if your fingers have to squeeeeeze to get through?? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> lol

I think that if you can fit a dime through the bars flat then they're too far apart.

You might be okay if you have to squeeze your fingers through. In fact, I'm pretty sure that you would be okay, but not positive. I checked the spacing on one of my glider cages and it's 1/2 inch. My other cage is pvc coated wire and doesn't have "bar spacing". Let's see if you get more opinions.

I can squeeze half of my fingers through my cages and they are 1/2" apart. I think it's really a judgement call but would not go any larger than 5/8.
