On May 28, it was one year that Bandit was neutered. He and Phoebe had a joey come oop on August 19th (Wyatt). Wyatt was neutered when he was 4 1/2 months old. The three of them have been together from the beginning. Well, a couple of months ago, I thought I was seeing things....Phoebe had a single 'lump'. She has a single joey in pouch. Now, I have been told gliders can hold off a pregnancy for a year. My vet is pretty sure it has to be Bandits, as Wyatt had barely started to mature when he was neutered. On June 1st, little Pennie was born. I named her after Pennie here, who I got Bandit from. Today she is 4 weeks and 2 days oop, she weighs 52 grams. Here are pics from today and a couple from the day she came oop. I'm thankful it wasn't another boy, so I don't have to worry about neutering! So welcome little Miss Pennie.......
Well, with all that has been going on with Timmy, and I was just nervous about everything. It was such a shock to begin with (but then again, so was Wyatt! lol) She is very healthy and at 52 grams at just over 4 weeks oop, is growing like crazy! Thanks!
Thanks Val. I was upset, thinking it could be Wyatt's but my vet assured me the likelihood it is his is very small, since he literally had a tiny dot of a bald spot when he was neutered. She said she has seen it happen before and although not common, they can hold it for a year. She and Bandit are taking great care and Wyatt, well, I think he is kind of afraid to squish her! lol But he will stay with her sometimes so mom can play.
Hey, I lost your number (I think I deleted it in a pm) send it to me again!
Thank you! With all that was going on with Timmy, I was so focused on him, and a small part of me was almost afraid, that something would happen to her if I said anything (sort of like waiting until you are past the first trimester to say you are preggers...lol)
She is sweet as candy, just like her mom, too! I have to put the little video I have of her the day she came oop here...omg, the little stinker was lunging and crabbing....but only the first day. Now she is a total bra baby!!
I'd heard that gliders could hold a pregnancy for up to a year, but thought it was an old wive's tale...that's AWESOME!! I wonder how many recorded cases there are...this has to be really rare...Congrats on Pennie...she IS beautiful!

Thank you. My vet said she has seen it twice. (Not counting this time). Well, based on when Wyatt came out, she held him, too! lol And did you see the fur on her her oop day? Me thinks Phoebe likes hers 'well done'....lol
Oh yeah, Leyna, did you notice the color of Phoebe's tail? It is cinnamon! I love her coloring! I don't know if Pennie will keep it but she is very blonde on her face.
I DID see the fur...I'm thinking the joey my Noashi is holding on to is gonna come out fully furred with eyes open...it's HUGE, and she flat will not let me look!

So when they actually "carry" the pregnancy for a year or however long, does the joey not grow during that time?? what actually happens if they do this longer than usual?

They don't develop or drop into pouch is my understanding of it (sort of like she is holding onto a fertilized egg, but it isn't implanted). I am just glad I don't have to worry about another boy to neuter! With all that is happening with Timmy, my glider fund is getting smaller, so need to have time to build it up again! lol Thanks, she is a real sweetie!
lol......you may have to stand in line! Thanks! The amazing thing is, with Timmy and all that has been going on, I didn't handle her for almost two weeks and I had never put her in my bra. But the other day, I took her out, popped her in, she snuggled up...well actually stretched out....lol and to sleep she went! She is a sweetie!!
Mary, she is absolutely gorgeous! Im so glad that with all that is going on with your sweet little Timmy, that you had this to cheer you up a bit! Congratulations!

Thank you! I never thought I would have another joey, but the name is appropriate (she is named after Penniedad from here, but the grandmother on 'Charmed' is Pennie, as well! lol)
Got it! Thanks guys. I tell you, I cannot get over how both Wyatt and Pennie are carbon copies of Phoebe (personality wise)! Wyatt was a super sweet joey and I held him from day one. I held Pennie the first couple of days, but then with all this with Timmy, I didn't for quite a while and I thought she would be afraid of me when I did start holding her again. But nope, she was scared at all and cuddled right up and went to sleep! She actually is less wiggly then Wyatt. He moved constantly (like Phoebe) but Pennie is a snuggler! I feel very blessed to have one more joey as now everyone is neutered and has been, so this definitely was a last one and I am enjoying every minute of it!
