Well everyone, I had to share with you b/c I just got back from Wal-Mart for a fleece run to line the bottom of my incubator (I'm paranoid and wanted more just in case). Anyhoo, they have A TON of fleece now and I asked an associate why and they said b/c it's Halloween season and time for making costumes. You all wouldn't believe how cheap it is too! Fleece is going at Wal-Mart for $2.94 a yard! That's such a good steal, and the associate said it should be most if not all Wal-Marts who have this deal b/c all prices are usually the same.

I had to share with ya'll b/c I know we all use a lot of fleece. Stock up! I'm sooo- excited that I have to go back tomorrow for more! They have every color under the Sun as well as very cute prints. I'm talking about taller than me and about 3 craft aisles full of it!

Okay, I'm done rambling...

I will be happy to check the Super Wal-Mart down the street from me. I live in a college town so we are stocked on everything. I can pick some up for you if you'd like. :o) Separate colors of orange and purple or mixed in one print?

Oh thank you so much.....I just called our local walmart and they said no no fleece on sale. If you could get me some solid orange and purple or even a mix if possible I will gladly pay you for it. I live in a small army town so we dont have much and what we do have is outrageously priced.
If I go to the local hobby lobby it will cost around $9 a yard. I am going to look online but if you could ge tit I will be very very appreciative.

Ouch!!!! $9/yard???? Dang girl, no way 'am I letting you pay for that! I know I saw some tonight solid colors and I saw a Halloween pattern that was solid purple with black webs and Halloween designs on it.

It should be $2.94/yard and then we can figure out specifics on shipping, address, etc. later. I will PM you when I get it tomorrow! :o) How much do you want of it?

It's $9 a yard here, too! Even at Wal-Mart. Not fair! I'll go tomorrow and see if it changed, though!

I work at WalMart and I picked up some fleece tonight as well. It was a couple remnants and unfortunately, it wasn't on sale I'll have to go take a closer look tomorrow, but I doubt any of ours is on sale either. Every once in a while, we getting a lighter weight fleece in that is much cheaper and great for sewing, but it's very rare...

Wow! I'm so surprised. The associate told me that most if not all Wal-Marts would have the same prices. They weren't on sale, but they were just great prices!

The lighter fleece I find works really well in the summer season and it's sooo- soft. LOL It also works well when making the seamless pouches since you're doubling up on the fabric.

Could prices be more expensive b/c you're closer to the gulf coast??? Maybe they are short on supplies and or fabric? Just a thought, maybe I'm just not used to spending $9 a yard for fleece. LOL

The most expensive I have ever seen up here for cute prints is $7.50 a yard.

The Walmarts around here had fleece at that price a few years ago. It's pretty much every fall. The fleece that is under 3 dollars usually is on the thin side. Speaking of sides just make sure you check it on both sides. Last year they had some but it was fleecy on only one side the other was like a knit. the under 3 dollars works good for the pouches we make b/c they are double pouches. But my mom also made me some fleecy sheets for my bed. Now when I sleep on them I dream I'm a suggie all suggled down in my comfy fleece pouch.

I avoid wal mart like the plague- personal issues, a) location b) treatment of minorites and GBLT rights... but wow.. thats a great price.. not worth the 40 minutes in a car to find out if they have it though...

khyricat, you can always call a head and see if they have it at that price. A lot of stores will even cut it and have it waiting for you...

I am still not sure I want to support them.. and I just ordered 21 yards of fleece off ebay - 7 yards each of 3 colors to use for cage sets for the new glider room and pair of cages.. less then 75$ including shipping to me! which actually wasn't much more!

I've always found great deals on Ebay. The last time, I found an auction for fleece, the seller lived about 40 minutes from me. The auction was for 17 yards of fleece, assorted colors and prints. I got the entire thing for $20.

thats an even better deal then the 3 I've made.. but the 64" fleece I got 5.5 yards of (all the seller had) a few months ago was a great deal too because it drops all the way to the floor behind the cage not just to the level of the bottom of the cage like 60"

I have been getting lots of remnants of fleece at JoAnn's Fabrics, many of them up to 75% off. The price on the fleece would be cut in half, and another discount at checkout. For some reason, not every single remnant has the same discount percentage, but hey, at least they are giving us some money to keep in our pockets! I cut as many pouches as I can and use the rest of the fleece as blankets.

Bummer, I stopped at JoAnn Fabrics, and they had fleece on sale at like $4.99 a yard (solid colors, anti-pill), but I was holding out for Wal-mart, because I thought it was cheaper at $2.94 per yard. Surprise! Ha! It was $7.94 a yard, but by the time I walked all over Super Wal-mart, I was too daggone tired to drive back up to JoAnn's.... grrrr. I'll just have to try again tomorrow, or over the weekend.

: my senior class is SUPER EXCITED to start making pouches for Hurricane Katrina gliders (which we're going to donate - thanks to Suz!)

[:"green"]My WalMart only has fleece at $7.94 a yard, too. But I didn't see anything for Halloween yet, so maybe it's still coming (*hope, hope*). I did, however, find some little fleece "receiving blankets" at WalMart for $1.00 each. They are solid, pale colors and are 30" x 30". I picked up a half-dozen today to bring to the Michigan Glider Get Together on Sunday. I figured we could cut them up & use them for no-sew pouches for the Katrina project. (I am soooooooo looking forward to Sunday's gathering!!!)
I think when I'm in Holland, MI on Saturday, I'll have to make a run to my mom's Wally World to see if they have the cheap fleece...

[:"purple"] [/] I was just going to mention these. I saw them in the GEM store near me and bought one to try the no sew pouch. It is lighter weight than my other pouches but should be good for a back up and/or warmer weather.

I actually like to sew with the lighter fleece b/c I make them seamless and double up and it all fits under the foot of the sewing machine. LOL Blaze likes them b/c they are softer than polar fleece, and still does not pill. I checked the other side to see if it was knitted and it was not. Thanks for the heads up on that...
