I'm sooo sad, and I feel so guilty. My Bandy is dead i miss him sooooo much, I can't stop crying... Here's the story
I went to my Mom's house for the weekend and I left my gliders at my dad's house because i don't like the cage at my mom's it's too small. And I was really sick this weekend. Anyways i told my dad to feed them on Friday, and he did. But he wasn't home on saturday, and I didn't know it so they never got fed or checked on. So on Sunday when I found out I made there food, and went in my room to feed them. Tootsie was up but not Bandit, so i quickly grabbed the pouch and opened it up. There was bandy, his feet were stuck in his blanket, or you could say his claws. So I quickly freed him, not knowing how long he's been in there could of been for 2 days!! When he was free he kept his hands tightly closed up or kept trying to grasp something., Then he'd open up his legs and totally stretch out his membrane it looked as if he was gliding but he was lying there on his back. He kept on having these spams, at this point I was horrified! I had my dad come to my room and look at him. He's like oh poor guy it looks like he's dying. Anyways he left, and so I offered him so food but he wouldn't eat. He was shaking all over too, and couldn't walk or anything it was the saddest sight ever
I then lifted up his skin and soon found out he was dehydrated, so I ran to the kitched got some water and applesause, and some eye droppers. I put the water in the eye dropper and had to open his mouth with it cause I knew he had to have water, and so i had it in his mouth and squirted some water in his mouth, and I could see him swollowing some of it. Once I spent a while giving him water, my dad told me to try getting applesause in his belly, so I did the same thing w/ the applesause. He was then getting better, he was able to walk a little more but still shaky. He was really cold, so I soon got out my electric blanket, and a heating sock and sent him on it, to warm him up. After about an hour of trying to get him well again, he seemed okay but still shakey and wobbly, but alot better. My dad said now just let him rest and he'll slowly get his strenth back. So he soon crawled inside his mushroom house all alone, cause Tootsie his Mommy was busy runnin around the cage. I truly thought he was gonna be okay, and I went to bed. I was still really really sick and tired. I felt alot better knowing that Bandit was better. And I prayed for him that night, to get well. Anyways when I woke up this morning, the first thing I went to was my gliders. And Bandit was still in the mushroom house, but I looked closer and could tell he was dead I was bawling and I looked some more and it looked as if when he went poop it was all bloody and long, it almost looked like some part of his insides came out. Anyways I was soo sad and tootsie was over there looking at her baby, and was trying to pull him out of the house, so I quickly grabbed her and put her in her pouch and held her close. This was the worst pain i have ever gone threw.I was sooo devestated and I felt so guilty. If only i took him to my mom's w/ me, instead of thinking my dad will take care of them, I didn't. IT's all my fault ANd I know you'll say it's not my fault but it is! I know it, my Mom wanted me to stay home from school, i was so sad and my heart it just torn. I had my dad take him out of the cage, because I couldn't. He's still in the box right now And I'm suppose to bury him but I don't know if I can. I'm so sad. I want my baby back he's only 2 years old. ANd poor tootsie who is 3 that was her son, she never spent a day apart from him since he was born, she must be hurting more than me. she's now sleeping in the bottom of the cage, in the little box, she never sleeps in there! I'm so heart broken I can't even talk, i'm so scared. I'm so sad words can't express what I'm feeling. I don't know what to do!!!

Oh Sheena, Im soo sorry. I know how it feels to lose a baby. I got a little kitten from my boyfriend last year and he was my pride and joy. I found out that he had worms so we got him treated, I thought he was fine. Although he never grew and always has diarreah. I made an appointment to get him checked out. The last night I saw him I was leaving to go to a concert that I didnt want to do to. Anyways, that night my mom told me she couldnt find Spencer, so I went out looking for him all night and all morning. I couldnt find him. The next day our neighbor called and said they had found him. I cried for weeks. I felt like it was all my fault because I should have taken him to the vet sooner.

Bandit knows you loved him and you never wanted anything bad to happen. You gave him a good life no matter how long it was. Youll always have the memories of him. I know its hard, but itll get better. Good Luck to you. I am so sorry for your lost.

Sheena I'm so sorry. But I really feel that even if you had been there you probably wouldn't have been able to save him, as it happened so quickly. I would get Tootsie to the vet for a check up to make sure that she doesn't have whatever Bandit had, and then spend lots of time with her so you two can comfort each other over this loss. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I recently lost my Sampson, and I feel very guilty also. Although like AggiesgirlAmie said, even if you were there, you may not have been able to help. I am so sorry for your loss, and I know you must be in a severe amount of pain. Just cherish the memories that you had together, and take comfort in Tootsie, as she will take comfort in you. You 2 will need each other now more than ever.
God Bless you! I will pray for Bandit tonight when I pray for all of the other gliders over the Rainbow Bridge.

Oh Sheena,
Im soooo sorry for your loss!!! I know how you feel. When I lost Basil, I was totally devastated, I couldnt talk, couldnt think, couldnt stop crying, I basically went into shock. It was the worst thing that had ever happend to me. In a few days I know you will still be extremely sad, but remember Tootsie needs you right now. Spend as much time with her as possible, it will help her and you. Hun, Im only a year older than you, and when I lost Basil I was the same age as you, I know exactly how you feel, and you feel like its your fault, but its really not. People make mistakes all the time, but it sounds like this couldn't have been prevented. Remember he lived a very happy life with you, never forget him, and instead of thinking of sad things that remind you of him, think of the happy memories you had with him! Im soo sorry Sheena, I hope you feel better, if you need to talk at all you can IM me on aol at blondekisses553 or SugieGlider. Bye

((((((Sheena)))))
Lot's of hugs and prayers for you and for Tootsie. Tootsie really needs you right now, to be there for her, so she's not all alone. I think things happen and we think we could have done something, but in reality, there was nothing we could have done if we had been there. You were sick and not feeling good. You loved him dearly and he knew that. He's knows you miss him now, but he's on the other side of the rainbow bridge, waiting for his mom and you to join him.
Let go of the guilt, I know it will be hard, but Tootsie needs you now and needs your love!
Chey

Sheena...I'm so very sorry! You did everything you could for Bandit, and he knew he was loved. Spend extra time with Tootsie. She's grieving with you.

My thoughts are with you!

[:"brown"] I am so sorry for the pain you are going through.

Please take your other glider to the vet and at least have a fecal smear done to be sure she is well. Then be sure to spend lot's of time with her to help with being alone. [/]

I am trully sorry and in a lesser way I can relate. I lost My sweet Jax almost a month ago, I only had her for 7 month. I still think of her as if she was alive. In many ways She is! she lives in my heart every bit as much as she did when she was breathing. I hope you can do the same with Bandit. It is the only thing that can be done. I urge you to take the female to the vet. A stool sample test is only about $15. If you do not have the money or cant get it I would be delighted to mail a money order to your vet. I would pre-pay for it if you give me his adress. E-mail me directly with his info if you can't get the money! Please take the female to the vet! A stool test is an economical piece of mind!

I'm so sorry for your loss, i can relate to the feeling of guilt as well as the pain of loss.
Just know your glider will be forever with you in your heart, and the pain will go away someday.

Take care, and please do get the others checked, just to be on the safe side.

I want to thank everyone for your kind words. I'm feeling a little better now. I've been spending alot of time w/ tootsie. It makes me so sad to see her in her cage all alone, with no bandit to play with or to cuddle up with. SHe sleeps all alone now, it it breaks my heart. So everytime I'm home i take her out of her cage and let her sleep on my shoulders or under my hood. My dad said maybe if you didn't kill her son she wouldn't be lonely you animal abuser. I can't believe he said that to me!!! He's so mean to me, and my sister is mean to me too. The only one in my family who actually cares about how i'm feeling now, is my mom, she knows i love me animals to death and i'd never do anything to harm them. The only problem is I don't live w/ my Mom, but I wish I did at times like this. My dad's like yea Now you spend all your time w/ tootsie. I'm like no dad I'm gonna leave her all alone in her cage when her son just died... My dad is so mean... BUt when i come here to this family on the board you make me feel so much better, and just knowing your here. Thankyou. And thankyou Gil, for the kind offer. But I'll have my mom make a vet appt. And I have some money that I can use for tootsie's fecal.. Thanks anyways that's the nicest thing anyone could do, i'll be sure to get her to the vet. I couldn't imagine loosing her either. And I just had my film developed, and there were so many pictures of bandit. I just started crying, but I found the most cutest picture of him in my pet net.. I'll have to scan it and post it here for you all to see. Once again thanks so much! I'll just keep spending lots of time w/ my precious poor little tootsie

By the way.. Dads are mean! My dad would probably say the same thing. What jerks.. just roll your eyes and say whatever. We all know you would never do anything to harm your animals!! Hang in there!

As an added note...I am a 35 year old parent of two! I am so sorry some dads do not take interest and minimize the feelings of their children. I would like to believe that the great majority of Dads would not respond like this. Deep down I am sure he would not wish any harm to any animal or to the feelings of children. He probably (Just a wild guess) tried to make light of a bad situation and as many of us Dads did not have a good way to express it. We dads play to be tough, rough caveman at times. I am sorry for his reaction. I would agree it was insensitive and rude. Most of all I am still very sorry and I share your sorrow for your loss. I hope your dad apologizes for his remarks and you can make up! You can meet my family in my attachment! I hope I am a cool dad! And by the way..The Gliders are mine!!! And Only mine Hua-ha-ha-ha-ha!! grin:

Sheena, I'm very sorry. There is no greater pain than losing a beloved glider. I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish there was something more profound or comforting to say, but please know we're here and that we share in your grief.

Im very sorry for your lose and i hope that u start feeling better soon. As for your dad, he should know that ur in a lot of pain and not to say stuff like that. But dads are like that. My bunnies got out of their cage once and they ran away (luckily they stayed by my house and i got them both back) and my dad called me a bad mommy. Ive had heart problems for the last about 6 months and ive been in and out of the hospital and had several heart monitors and my father offered me chocolate( i cant have any sort of caffine or cocoa) and i said that it was bad for my heart and he laughed and was like "u say that like u have a heart problem!" i geuss he had either forgotten or never knew. O well i geuss thats what dads are for. They love you, they just have a strange way of showing it.

We're doing a little better each day. But poor Tootsie she refuses to go back into the pouch where Bandit was trapped. I'm gonna have to buy another one... Tootsie is hangin tough but she's really lonely, and has no one to play with. I'm planning on getting another Glider, but I'll post that in a diff. Forum. But I don't want to feel like i'm replacing Bandit. I know I'm not, but it still hurts really bad, I'll never forget Bandit I'll remember him forever everytime I look at Tootsie his Mom I see him.
