If a toy is made for a bird, I can assume it will be safe for my suggie, right? I just got a little dangy thing with colored wood and some metal and put it in her cage, but then I read a story here on GC about a suggie that died because there was some zinc or some toxic metal in a toy they used.. Then I had a panic attack and went through the garbage looking for the label of the toy and it didn't say what kind of metal they used so I looked the company up on Google and they said they used stainless steel. I guess my questions are : 1. Is stainless steel ok? and 2. If it's safe for a bird, is it safe for a glider for the most part unless there's something obviously not ok for suggies like zinc? Thanks everyone <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heartpump.gif" alt="" />

I'm wondering now too..the lanyards we use a lot to clip the pouches to the cages say zinc...hmm .anyone know if they are safe still? On the bird toys..I've found a lot of them I wouldn't give to my babies cause of too small things on them, places to catch nails and feathers (those should be for supervised play)

Hi, this was posted about a week ago and I'm still curious. What about a toy and it has some metal on it. Should you not give it to your suggie if you don't know what the metal is? What about toddoler's toys. are they usually not zinc and is zinc the only metal that is harmful? Are most bird toys OK? i don't see anywhere where is says what the clips are made of. Any way to tell? I've done a search on this and not come up with much except on cages tha they should be coated. Thanks!!

I have been using metal clips for years. As far as the toys the major thing to watch out for is JINGLE BELLS. Use the "cowbells" they don't have the little holes in them.
