If it's made out of fleece I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be ok. Did you just tie the ends around a cage wire to hang it up?
Great idea!
Edit: I looked at your pics again- and I think that when you have it hanging upside down it works the best. Cuz then they can really sit in it likes it's a pouch!

YEA!!! I just looped the "tentacles" and losly knotted them. The whole idea was to make a multi-use toy/bed that was snuggably soft and cool! Too bad this is a prototype and I don't have any gliders to "test" it out on. I think it ended up costing $20 to build. I saved my plans if any one wants them, PM me. I'll gladly pass them along, so that maybe some one's babies will be happy
*Note* tanks to "Pedro the half eaten dog toy" for perticipating in the modeling

Litle Problem. I made a How-2 Sheet but it's a .doc and I don't know how to send or attach it. So I'll send it when I figure out how. Tanks for waiting.

It's a lot more complex than I would've guessed Not to mention your directions are so much more crafty than mine would've been- I wouldn't have been able to draw the jellyfish on the first page!!! HA HA!
Can you email the instructions to me please? []pets@critterhill.com[/] I can't sew, but I can dream.
Hmmm... I've been reading the instructions and I'm kind of confused on how to do steps 7 & 8- or maybe how to go from 7 so it looks like 8 when I sew.
If I follow the picture in 7 the words don't match. I'm going to try this tomorrow so I'll let you know if I figure it out. I'm thinking reading it and actually doing it will be very different Hopefully!
If I totally can't figure it out I'll PM you. But for now- right before you do the Z fold- should the piece be right side up or facing down? Should the stitched on tentacles be on top of the fabric or on the bottom side? The directions don't say to flip it but the picture looks like you should.
I'll post pics when I'm done! I'm so excited to do this cuz I think it will be really cool. And I'm using green fleece with purple flowers & purple tentacles!

Ok.... so I don't have the jelly in front of me but this is what I did instead- hopefully it's understandable.
With the jelly & the tentacles facing up, I fliped the tents down and under so they hung right- then I just sewed across the top to make the pouch where you can slide the ring through. Now... I can't really get a ring big enough, Home Depot only had 4" pvc... so I think we're going to go tonight and get a clear plastic tube- the soft pliable but firm kind- and get a male to male connector- make a circle, slide it in & connect the ends! Viola!
Hopefully it works the same way! The jelly took me forever yesterday to make and I'm not quite done but I was also putzing around the house!
I'm going to pick up 6 gliders tonight so if I even do get to pick up the tube I'm not sure I'll have time to sew! I'll definetely post pics though- so far it's looking cute!

Sugarbabees, I understand exactly what you did and that's what you were supposed to do. (see it is difficult to explain). Now if it gets too complicated with the pcv ring just avoid and wear the jellyfish as a rasta' hat (dreads included).

I was able to stop at Home Depot tonight & we got 4' of clear plastic tubing. I think it's 1" diameter so it should fit. We got the male to male connectors too- hopefully it all works. Unfortunately no sewing for me tonight!

I just got started last night. Been a LONG time since I had that old sewing machine out. LOL I think it took me half an hour to figure it out again. Mine is really, really old. But, it works. I am just in the process of attaching the tenticals. I think I will use 1 in elastic instead of the PVC. But, I will see when I get to that part.
Thank You for sharing this with us......

I used my plastic tubing to keep the round shape but my question is- did you sew the gaps closed?
I put the tube through the 3 sections and you pretty much can't see the tube but there are gaps sometimes. I tried to sew it from the outside but it doesn't look so great.
Did you just leave those parts open?

Woohoooo! I'm done! My pic of my jelly has been attached!
I ended up sewing the gaps closed just because I'm anal
There is a few things I'd do differently next time- and yes there will be a next time!
First of all I think I'd find a way to make it semi-seemless on the inside. This will also allow you/me/who ever to use a different color fabric (or the same) on the inside & you won't see the "guts" of the jelly. I'm assuming this is the same 2 colored jelly you were telling me about in the PM Vimm...
Also- I think I would add that one extra tentacle so there's 9 total. I'm not sure I understand why you went the 8 route- did I miss something?
Hmmm what else... Oh yes! Since I got the clear plastic tubing that was about 1" diameter it was a little tight getting it into the pocket part. Next time I would probably get a 1/2" diameter tube. I think this will also help the circle maintain it's shape. The 1" will make a circle the right size but the diameter of the tube doesn't allow it to stay a perfect tube- it kinda got crushed at high pressure points? Make sense? No? Too bad- use 1/2" tube and you'll thank me later! He he!
I'm not sure how the tube is going to work when washing the jelly. At least it will float on the top of the water! If I don't go the tube route next time I have no idea what I'll do. My Home Depot didn't have any pvc that had a big enough diameter that I could have them cut down. Ahhhh... I don't know- I'll come up with something! Maybe I can find a way to make that pvc work for me!
Thanks again for the instructions! Your jelly idea is really cool!

It's not as soft & plushy as I was hoping but a lot of that has to do with the tube. I kind of have an idea in how you could make it into more of a pouch. I'll have to experiment but first I have to make some plain jane pouches for these crazies I just got!
Also- I only had a half yard of the pouch fleece to start- the tie-dye looking stuff, and had about a 1/4 yard left over after cutting out the patterns. Full yard for the tentacles but there's a lot left of that too. So it didn't take me the full 2 yards (although it said there would be leftovers.
Long story short- I used what I had laying around and it actually matched for once!
