I've had Gizmo for almost 3 weeks now....he goes everywhere with me, all in all spending 15-16 hours a day with me, everyday. bonding has gone really well...he lets me rub under his chin and tummy and that makes him fall asleep. I give him snacks while I'm at work, and he loves climbing on me. He gives my fingers kisses, and actually loves being petted. My question is...how do I know when it's safe to let him explore the apartment a bit? He seems like he wants to, his personality is very feisty and curious, but I'm afraid he'll run away from me, and I don't want to have to chase him and screw up the bond we have. How should I begin letting him explore a bit? Is the tent just a better bet?

take him into a room where he cant go anywhere you cant reach him, like a bathroom--just make sure the toilet seat is down, windows are closed, door is closed, and anything that could be harmful to him is put away--you can bring some toys in there for him to play with or let him do his own thing-- a tent is also another good idea--let him get used to you picking him up when he gets too far--this way when you are ready to let him go farther you will be able to get him-- if you are unsure of yourself and him--do not let him wander where you are afraid he may get to--- you have to trust yourself and he has to trust you as well--- try doing things small first--like a tent or an enclosed room where nothing bad could happen-- we will play in the bathroom with our gliders (depending on who we play with--there can be up to 4 gliders at a time--and it is a little harder to watch 4) most of our gliders are pretty good about staying on us and not wandering too far away--and others will come back to us when we give them our hands--- start small and work your way up--this way you do not have any bad experiences and neither will he
