Looking to get a new home for 2 gliders. Here is what I am finding on eBay:
32" x 21" x 35" with stand for $120
32x21x35

30" x 18" x 38" with stand for $105
30x18x38

30" x 18" x 55" (Sits on wheels on floor) $89
30x18x55

I know that a lot of people like the $89 cage even though it is pretty cheaply made and isn't real sturdy. Zip ties are supposed to fix that, but the other cages, while more expensive, seem to be better constructed and don't look "cheap" like the $89 cage. I also know that the $89 cage can be ordered direct from other non-eBay sellers for less hassle and the same price. All of the prices above included the shipping costs (if any).

All of the cages will take up about the same amount of space in our house once you factor in the stand, however the ones with a stand seem like they won't be, as my wife puts it, "so obnoxious" looking in our house. They also, as I mentioned before, look to be better constructed.

Thoughts or ideas? I NEED to get something ordered ASAP as it looks like I will be bringing my gliders home in a little over a week. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yelclap.gif" alt="" />

the seller of the second and third I had some problems with. It took them 3 weeks to even ship, another week to get to me, AND it wasn't all there! it took them another 9 days to get me the rest of the parts.
There is another seller that has cages like those for a better price. demsondinc.

You can go there and then to their store to see all the cages they have. I have had great service from them.

I didn't see any cages from that seller's store that looked like what I saw from the seller of #2 and #3 in my original post.

So which style of cage? The big, cheaper looking, flimsy (which I hear a bunch of zip ties fixes) cage, or a smaller, but sturdier one that looks nicer? I need to decide today if possible and then order it (from someone... Thanks for the tips on the seller of the #2 and #3 cages, I read their feedback and most of it is positive so I didn't know that they were having real issues.)

Thanks again for any additional insight you can provide.

I saw it on Ebay for this price a couple of times, but it didn't come with free shipping. With the shipping cost, it still came out to $89.

I got mine from www.dblrsupply.com, $89 with free shipping

I just bought the 3rd one you have listed 30x18x55 and I love it. I recieved it in 8 days with no problems. I do not have to zip tie it anywhere, except some of the lighter weight doors, I am scared they are too easily opened. I would not use those little doors anyway so it is not a problem. My last cage that sat on a stand I had several zip ties all over the place. I would say bigger is better. I am really glad that I updated to the larger cage. It is really a personal preference whatever you decide to do. Good luck!

i have the middle cage and i really enjoy it. It is really sturdy so you can acually put stuff on top if necc. BUT, one thing that is annoying... the two doors. i have this model and a different model (same style) but my other has one large door and i perfer it much better. Let me look around and see if I can find any like that... i got mine at the flea market.

this is the cage you are looking at, but it is sold by Lisa at Suncoast http://www.sugar-gliders.com/sturdy-cage.htm

the initial price is higher, but shipping is only $5 and she ships out super fast is great to work with.

okay,,, here is the other cage i have http://www.sugarglider63.com/cagecondo.html i like the large door. again the price is higher, but she offers free shipping. I have done business with Serena as well and was very pleased. goood luck with your decision!! HTH

Well, I ended up paying a bit more and went with the Suncoast cage. Should be nice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" /> PLus I will be using the Suncoast diet, so I got food, vitamins, minerals, etc there as well. Tonight, I am toy shopping... Hmmm... Stealth Wheel or Wodent Wheel... Hmmmm....

I hear that the Stealth is easier to clean too... The Wodent Wheel is still the original, and is/was very cool, so nothing against those that have one, but I think I am going Stealth...

I am debating on which version of the Stealth to get. Do people hang them from the tops of their cages, or just leave them on the bottom. If they are mainly on the bottom, I may just get the kit and mount it to the side of the cage so I can save $10 and not have to look at the PVC pipe.

Actually, I had a question on the same lines as nickbuol. How do you mount the stealth wheel to the side of the cage? I got the one with the PVC pipe base, but I'd like to mount higher up in the cage. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Kristy

I have one Stealth Flex Kit & one Stealth Extreme. I have them both mounted to the side of the cage by the base, thise is much easier to do with the Extreme because of the wire base. Also, I like that the Extreme has the hard outer rim, this makes the TrimTrax stay up closer to the hardware cloth than it does with my Flex Kit. The Flex Kit has the PVC base, which, when turned on it's side, swivels a bit - I had to drill an extra hole & put another screw in so the wheel would not swivel to face the cage floor once mounted on the cage wall. Bottom line, the Extreme is my fave & well worth the extra money!

I thought that to mount them directly to the cage you had to remove the base anyway, and use a pair of washers, one on the inside of the cage and one on the outside of the cage, and then tighten the nut to hold it in place. So I would think that the base wouldn't make a difference. Now, if someone wanted to hang their wheel from the top of the cage, I hear that the kit is NOT the way to go.

I may end up with the Xtreme anyway just to keep my options open.
